Health anxiety

I went to the doctors a few weeks ago and they refereed me to somebody and they said I have health anxiety and now I'm waiting to go and get help from a councillor but its a 19 week wait, and then they are sending me to a bereavement councillor, I just wondered if anybody else has been through this and can and advice anything

I no it seems an awful long wait , I am waiting on a list & I have been told it could take up to a year , as the list is so long , its not much help when we are feeling so desperate

Are you on any meds to try & help in the meantime , lots of people as well as long term , taking them short term to help them through

Keep talking on here , there is some great support , people will help you & relate to how you feel which is a great comfort & you pick up some good tips how to cope

If things get really bad , then go back to the GP & ask what they can do in the meantime

hi Amzy, just to make you aware therapy in the form of counselling, cbt and I think nlp, is available through Anxiety UK and can usually be arranged in about 2 weeks. You do have to pay, but it is dependent upon your income. Also, The Mumsnet website have a helpful mental health forum, there will be lots of members there who have had or are going through post natal depression, which I think you mentioned in a previous post.
