Burning, red face & ears Lofepramine side effect.

Hi all! (first post) :)

Since I started taking Lofepramine mid last year I've been getting this spontaneous reddening (BRIGHT red) and really hot burning feeling all over my cheeks and ears. There's no rhyme or reason as to what makes it flare up (literally :/) although I have noticed a pattern. If I change the time I take my tablets or if I'm late by more than 30mins I get this happening daily for between a week and a few months, depending, until things seem to level off. I've been thinking that it might be possible that it's the Lofepramine causing me to have high blood pressure maybe.

I haven't mentioned it to my doctor yet, as at first I just brushed it off as one of, many, side effects I was getting from them and then it got to a point that I was used to it happening and realised that if I didn't mess with when I took my tablets too much it wouldn't happen as much, if at all. But.. I just wanted to check on here if anyone else has had these symptoms from taking Lofepramine at all?

I tend to just slap a frozen burger on my face in these moments. :P

Hi Soosh, I don't take Lofepramine so can't help you there, but as you have mentioned it could be a side effect as many drugs cam cause facial flushing. I doubt its a sign of high bp as apparently it's a myth that a flushed face has anything to do with high bp, high bp is mostly symptomless. perhaps have a word with your gp next time you see him to put your mind at rest.

Ahh, that's a bit of a relief. I went looking for answers a while back and came across a website that linked high BP and heart problems with Lofepramine, this was after I made the leap from facial flushing to high BP. That'll teach me to consult Dr Google.

Yeah, I definitely need to bring it up next time I see him so he can let me know either way. Thanks Kaz. :)

Which makes me wonder why I'd be getting it after I started taking meds, surely if it's related to my anxiety I would've been getting it before too? I can only assume it's a side effect. And hope so too. I don't want to have to be slapping frozen burgers on my face for most of the foreseeable future. :P

They start to stink after a while.
