Hi everyone I just wanted to shear some things I have been studding about panic? anxiety I hope this will help people have a better understanding.

So i think the best place for me to start is the one I wanted to learn more about and that is the built in alarm response that well all have built in to all of use. This was all well and good when we have to fight for our lives when that big green T-REX with the short arms was trying to make use it's dinner.

But as well all know that time is long gone but the reaction to fear is still with use that is what keeps us safe when there is danger. But people whit anxiety get the alarm response at things that other people find "normal"

I know you are thinking well do you have this happen to you?

the answer is yes close to every day, and but getting a better understanding on what is happening is starting to make me see my anxiety and depression in a different light.

When we are in a situation where our body thinks it is in danger it will take steps to prepare you to survive ( this is known as the fight or fight) but with this feeling we get a lot of other things happening at the same time to get us ready for the (FOF)

ok now you have to give me a bit of a chance here as this is what i have started to work out.

So you are in a situation where you start to panic ? and this is where you fight or flight will kick in and yes it has a set number of things to do and no matter what it will do it, because in your minds eyes this situation is life or death. not we know after that is was not but at the time it is!

So first thing most people find is the your breathing starts to change, (gets faster)

now I know you think "Help I can't breath"! but what is happening is normal in this situation.

Your body is taking in more air this in turn put's more oxygen in your blood....

This makes you heart pump faster with in turn gives you the feeling to get ready for something to happen.

As you body now thinks it is in a situation where you will have to fight to survive it will send most of your blood to you arms and legs ( so you and run and fight)

now that is sending all the blood to the places that need it most, people find a number of things happen and yes I have this happen to me to.

You feel light headed.. less blood is needed for you brain at this point as you body sees this as not time to be stopping and having a long hard think.

Also you digestive system hit's the hold button. " this is not the time we will sit down for a Sunday roast"!

that is why we get that feeling in the pit of our stomach.

Now one thing I have been researching for years and I even go as far as calling professionals by phone to get a clear picture on this and this is the best thing.

You can not die from panic, nor will you pass out from panic!

If you could then everything above that your body has just done to keep you from danger would have been a wast of time! because that T-REX would just stand there and wait for you to pass out then eat you, and not have to chase you.

I hope I have not made to meany spelling mistakes? i am dyslexic so this is not to easy for me.

As far is I have an understand is that Panic itself will not make you pass .low blood pressure, and also panic attacks can result in loss of consciousness as a result of hyperventilation (breathing too quickly) it seems this is rear as it would take some time to get that far, also low blood sugar.

Please remember i am not a doctor I am just going by what i am learning.

Sorry if this is not much more help.

Hi Trip,

A great blog. Certainly I found it really helpful to understand how it all works.

Think you might like a little book called "Living with IT" by Bev Aisbett. I found it really helpful when I was first ill.

Hope you're having a good weekend.

Love
