Hi all, another sleepless night worrying about popping into work today, meant to be going back this week. Has anybody else taken time off due to anxiety? Was just starting to feel like myself again and have now gone backwards. Don't think I can cope with work and anxiety, any comments would be a great help.
Worried about work: Hi all, another... - Anxiety Support
Worried about work
The best advice i can give you is baby steps.......
Firstly concentrate on doing 10 mins of breathing excersises every morning, lunch, and night.
If possible build back up your hours at work. Eg. only go back for an hour on your first day & if you can manage more whist your there then bonus but if you cant then it doesnt matter.
Dont beat yourself up if things dont quite go to plan. And dont set yourself unachievable goals! Cos if you do that and you dont achieve them its only going to bring you down. Be positive, you are only human & no -one expects miracles! Best of luck x x x
Hi
Yes I suffered really bad anxiety at work. I think we probably all cope/deal with it differently. The job I was doing was particularly stressful,
I, unfortunately had to give up my job in the end. That was 3 weeks ago now.
I am enquiring about some voluntary work to get me back into things again..
I agree with tintin 187 baby steps and don't be hard on yourself.
Best of luck to you xxx
Thank you, I think I am putting too much pressure on myself, the minute I started to feel better I decided I had to go back to work, only time will tell. Perhaps I need a change something different.
Good luck to you too, keep in touch.
I agree with what has already been said. Don't rush back because you feeling a bit better. I went back too soon and ended up off work again as I couldn't cope. I am now on meds and have returned to work this week. I would recommend a phased return if possible I'm just doing half days for the 1st 3 weeks. Don't be too hard on yourself if you don't make it back to work this week. Take care and good luck x
Hi eta
I have been off work with anxiety and panic attacks and find it difficult to get out. I have to travel to work by transport (bus) which scares me to death, this has been since the middle of Jan. I have been signed off and seeing a therapist who advised me to work at my own pace. Like everyone else i have a mortgage and bills and although i am getting paid right now this will eventually stop. But until i feel comfortable doing the journey and gradually working my way back into work i will not be attending.
Like i have said to many work friends until you have felt and understood what i am feeling you will never know what it feels like. Plus who wants to be a prisoner and have my life dictated by this awful setback.
If you feel your not ready then do not feel pressured to go back until your able to cope. Little steps to get yourself back on track is the best advice.
I was worried about going back after Easter holidays but i know i am nowhere need ready and i am not going to make myself worse pushing myself. Have the Doctors tomorrow and i will get a further certificate for how ever long it takes something i never said previously.
Your well being is the most important of all so make sure you take care and work at your own pace.
Wish you lots of luck

Thank you for all your comments, been back to doctors he does not feel I am ready to go back yet, need to start thinking of myself and stop worrying what others think.
Hope you all have a good day! Need to ring work now, that's enough to make anyone panic!
