I would recommend doing breathing exercises to help. Sit comfortably with no distractions (music is ok). Take a deep breath through your nose and in from your diaphragn (just below your rib cage), hold for 3 seconds, then breathe out fully and relax at same time. Repeat this slowly for about 10 times concentrating only on your breathing. You will feel better. Repeat these breathing exercises on a regular basis. You can get an app for this if you have a smartphone, or download something similar from this site.
Hi Archie
I've had a lot of chest pains in the past, it made me freak out straight into anxiety mode because I automatically thought there was something wrong with my heart or lungs etc! I've since found that in fact the pains are coming through from my back and shoulders - I'm so tense all the time that I get a lot of muscular pain and sometimes it gives me a tweak in my chest which makes me catch my breath. I don't know if you're having the same thing but I would say it is most likely due to tension and anxiety x
hi, i think we are all having chest pains at the moment.....thats the lovely side effects of anxiety. i find a sit quietly and do some belly breathing it does seem to help untill it passes. x
hi yes i am too suffering with terrible chest pains in the middle of my chest its tight and stabbing pains which do hurt and is worrying sometimes but my gp said its the muscles tightening up with being tense all the time and having panic attacks they are awful but like everyone says try and breath through them xxx
Hi there
I was so glad to read this post as I thought I may be the only one suffering these pains. I was getting better with anxiety until I experienced this grabbing pain in the left side of my chest. I am worried sick that it is something to do with my heart or lungs as I have had it for weeks now. I wake up with it and go to sleep with it, it is bare able but I would rather know what it is. Can anxiety really cause this?
Xx
Hello Archie, had the chest pain. Don't worry, it's just your body telling you your head isn't on straight at the mo. Sorry you are anxious. It's horrible, isn't it? It will pass though, in it's own time. It always does. Look beyond. x
