Why the negative thoughts the majority of the time?

Why do I always think something is wrong with me e.g. Cancer I always check my pulse and always Google any small problem that I have?

Hello Ladyxtx.. i was exactly the same constantly thinking i had a brain tumour etc,things got so bad i couldnt stop crying and shaking so i went to see my GP who gave me a thorough check up,she found nothing physically wrong with me but diagnosed anxiety things didnt get any better so i went back and i now take citalopram.... my advice is go and see your GP explaine what you are going through and dont be tempted to look on the internet it can make thing much worse... Hey Ladyxtx, agree with LB, though i'm certainly no doctor, it sounds like you may be suffering from anxiety, though i dont have this type of anxiety at the moment, i have had it in the past, i thought i had every illness there was, all serious ones, even got myself into hospital over night, only to be told i had a panic attack. best to go see your gp i hope you have an understanding one, and remember no-body has ever died of anxiety, it just feels bloody horrid, though the first step is facing up to knowing something isnt right, and then make the step to getting help, you already know something isnt quite right by coming here, so next step gp, let us know how you get on Ladyxtx good luck,

Hi there thanks for your responses... I have just gone through a course of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) but the people who were doing the sessions as much as nice as they were, were too much textbook based as in just reading stuff not really going into details. Yeah I know I suffer from panic attacks went into hospital and was in re cuss and they couldnt explain why my heart was racing as much as it was and they done all sorts of tests heart tests and also all blood tests, urine etc and was fine so all that it can be down to is anxiety. I tried Citroplam but I didn't like it at all made me feel worse and plus I dont want to have to rely on meds ( I have never been good with taking any type of medication) as I have heard how heard it can be coming off of them and rather find alternative ways... thinking of trying counselling as I think this may benefit me more as of childhood wasn't great just not sure where as I heard there can be long waiting lists to get counselling. I

Hi again your right about some councillors cbt is not what people think it is they don't want to know about your past they just want to help you find reasons and triggers for your anxiety and what happens physically to you and how you react to it and they hope you make the connections between things that set off your anxiety and your sensations and you begin to react differently to them positively instead of negatively which is what most people with anxiety do wish you well again it does get better. I feel dizzy alot too so always feel like something bad will happen, but scared of going to gp as think they will diagnose something bad.

Hiya negative thoughts about your health fits into the category of health anxiety which is one of my bad symptoms the others being panic attacks a fear of dying ect I take it you've been to the. Drs and they'll have done some tests mine did they always come back negative if he offers councilling go it helps to get a better understanding of your problems and gives you some relaxation techniques I will give one good bit of advice stop visiting dr google I used to for every little twinge and found it never gave me a cure just made things worse in my mind it will get better for you when you understand like I did that one human being cannot possibly have so many things wrong with them it just a hyper awareness of our bodies feelings and sensations try reading or find out about anxiety and only anxiety and you'll find out how widespread this problem is and how many people suffer with it you only have to look at this site and there are many others and we all have hope to get out of this vicious circle of anxiety and we can or at least make it easier to live with get yourself to the drs if you havnt already and get yourself checked if only for reassurance it'll take a huge weight off your shoulders I wish you well and a happier life. Hey ladyxtx,

your right about cbt, spot on infact, i found the same thing. when i first got this illness i read soo many books, and then went on a cbt 12 week course, it was like they were reading from some of the books i had already read. although, it does work for some people, so i believe that you have to try different options, what doesnt work for someone else might be the answer for you. as for meds, it has to be your choice on that one, only you can decide if you want to take them. good luck lady xtx best wishes VV x

Hi all..... My GP said its about changing the way we think and i know its easier said than done.for the last few days my anxiety had been really bad due to a headache sounds crazy but i kept thinking it was something serious..anyway yesterday i though NO ive gotta stop thinking like this i have to stop it so i put the headaches down to stopping all caffene and lack of sleep and now the headaches have gone,im no doctor or expert but that worked for me...
