Yes. High blood pressure during a panic attack can be caused by the adrenaline that triggers the panic attack in the first place. The adrenaline causes your heart to beat faster, and as such, the blood being pumped through your body goes faster and faster, which can result in high blood pressure.

It might sound too simple, but it really does help if, while suffering a panic attack, you seek a cold drink of water. This cool drink of water can also help lower your blood pressure during a panic attack, because the coolness of the water will hydrate you and cause a naturally relaxing effect.

Hi. miss. Boy!!! We do give ourselves a belting don't we? As funky says, the adrenaline will do it but it really is nothing to worry about. Blood pressure varies so much from person to person that what is 'normal' for one is not for another. Try dashing for a bus or getting frustrated over having nowhere to park and up goes your blood pressure. That is why doctors always give you five minutes or so for you to calm done before they take it. Your age and build can affect it. I hope you have not got one of those blood pressure machines. You know they can be real frighteners. I had a friend who suffered from heath anxiety. He took his blood pressure every day for a month he was so worried. He went to his GP with the readings. The GP, without looking at the paper, which he threw into the waste paper basket, took his blood pressure, which was normal, and told him to go home and forget about it. A whole months lashing for absolutely nothing!!! This is why acceptance is so important. It reduces the outflow of adrenalin and helps to calm. Try not to worry! I know, difficult, but it can be done. Love and blessings. jonathan.

Thankyou both xx

I had a hospital appointment this morning (different subject!!)

Having felt pretty good for the last two weeks, last night was the pits. Whiring mind and tummy, little sleep etc etc!

The nurse took my blood pressure and it was somewhat high!! I could feel my pulse racing and I was hot and bothered.

All nicely stacked to have a high reading no doubt!

Funnily I didn't explain I suffer with panic attacks and she wasn't bothered by the reading.

I however was panic stricken! I was about 10 miles from home (an hour on the bus). I tried to do a bit of shopping and succeeded in stopping for a cup of tea. (with every mouthful I wanted to bolt!)

But boy I could not get home fast enough, as soon as I was on the bus I felt calmer.

Jonathan, my husband has a blood pressure monitor and I spent two weeks recording the readings! My doc said mine was better than hers! So I now stay away from it, although I did do it when I got in! Bad girl!

Hoping it will all settle again. xx
