Hi, I suffered a big depressive episode in March 2021. I’ve battled back from that and have good days and bad days. I live in New Zealand and decided to travel to visit my brother in Dallas. It was a 12.5 hour flight to LA followed by a 3 hour flight to Dallas. Spent a few hours in Dallas then travelled to Columbus… had 0 hours sleep on the planes… long story short, had a big anxiety episode lasting a couple of days… anyone else experienced this? Is it due to lack of sleep, jet lag? Unfamiliar environments?

Anxiety attack overseas
Hi that`s a lot of travel with no sleep no doubt it will be a factor in what you experienced hopefully after a good rest you`ll begin to feel ok again.
I was in Florida for few month. I had so much panic attacks though I was going to d!e.
It's agoraphobia I had. Only got better when I reach back home.
Sounds a bit like what I am like when I am away from home, agoraphobia. Sorry you are having a rotten time.
Flew non-stop from California to Ireland, no sleep before or during the flight. Landed and had a major panic attack. Wanted to go straight to the hospital but a nurse calmed me down and said lack of sleep, coupled with the anxiety of flying, not eating and major dehydration was probably the cause. Food, a few bottles of water and Irish Gatorade and 12 hours of sleep and I felt much better.
This happened to me as well. I think it is a combination of unfamiliar environments (i.e. out of the comfort zone) and lack of sleep.
