Duloxetine & Propananol — Panic Attacks

I’ve been suffering with anxiety since the age of 13, and I’m turning 25 this year.

My anxiety got considerably worse during 2020 when I was diagnosed with IBS.

I have suffered with debilitating panic attacks since then and over the last few months it’s got even more severe. I’m experiencing extreme panic episodes one after the other in the comfort of my own home.

Due to this Ive been prescribed propananol for the physical symptoms and have been put on Duloextine for the GAD, Panic attacks & Low mood.

I have noticed an increase in my anxiety since taking Duloxetine, with it being only 1 week since beginning treatment I wondered if anyone else has struggled with an increase in Anxiety symptoms whilst your body gets used to the new medication, and if it eventually goes away?

I had a very similar experience, while trying to find the right medication and then waiting for it to balance out in my body I experienced a huge wave of increased anxiety for a couple of weeks but let me tell you, you just need to get through that first month because once I pushed through that first month of what felt like my worst anxiety yet I have never felt better and i am so glad I did. Its a "its get worse before it gets better" situation. It doesn't happen to everyone but oh boy did it happen to me but im here to tell you to stick with it and give it a month and you will start to notice a change and it will eventually reach a point where you wont even think twice about taking your medicine because it will only make you feel better. Atip is for now while you are experiencing side affects is take it right before you go to sleep so you skeep through the worst of your side effects and then once it levels out in your body you can switcht to whatever time of day works best for you! at least thats what I did! (not a health professional just speaking from personal experience)

Thank you, I was advised to take it in the morning due to insomnia being one of my side effects…

It’s very comforting knowing I’m not alone.

Hi. It will take awhile to get into your system and balance things out. I'm on citalopram for anxiety /clinical depression. I take it in the morning.stick with it. As they will help you x

Thank you. It’s just so frustrating that most antidepressants make you worse before they make you better x

Hi I,m on Fluoxetine for anxiety and Lorazepam to stop the Fluoxetine from making me feel worse until I get used to it . Lorazepam works within 30 minutes and lasts about six to eight hours . Might be worth talking to your doctor about it.

Hi! What exactly is the job of Lorazepam? Thank you.

Hi d0nutt. I had been prescribed lorazapam (Ativan) many yrs ago. It is an anti-anxiety med, and if given the proper dose, it should work significantly. I would suggest you ask your Dr about it. I think the main side-effect is drowsiness.

Take care
