My anxiety has been so high since just before Christmas, doesn't make it any better than while we are on holiday visiting my brother-in-law. He was taking into hospital with extreme food poisoning and a very bad infection. He's still in after a week. And to top it all off my mum heart failure has a really heavy cold which sets me off even worse. It seems that everything is Happening all at once! I feel horrible in myself my while body is stressed like every single muscle.

Anyway I hope everyone else is ok?

Much love

Hold on, Charmquark, don't let your anxiety run away with you. Let's keep things in perspective. Your brother-in-law is in the right place receiving the right care for what ails him. His food poisoning and infection will be healed, just give it time.

As for your mother: the phrase 'heart failure' gives a false impression of that condition. It makes you think that her heart is about to stop any minute. But that's not what that ill conceived phrase means. It means that to some degree your mother's heart isn't working as perfectly as it should. To counter this, your mother is no doubt receiving medication to compensate for this.

There are hundreds of thousands of people in the U.K. with 'heart failure' and it doesn't mean that their demise is imminent. Her heavy cold should pass soon enough given rest, warmth and attention from her doctor to include prescription medications if he or she thinks your mother needs them.

Charmquark, in a few weeks both these matters calling you so much worry will no doubt be fully resolved. The reason they are causing you so much concern is because, as you say, your anxiety has been high since before Christmas. High anxiety causes our nervous system to become over sensitive. As a result every worry you have seems ten times worse than it is. Anxiety has that ability: to exaggerate normal concerns ten fold.

May I suggest that now is the time to address that anxiety that is causing you so much stress. Focus on how anxiety disorder is caused and how it can be dispersed. On this forum you can gain understanding, reassurance and a path to recovery. I wish you God's speed on that journey to resolve the over sensitivity of your nervous system so often caused by too much work, worry and stress.

May your family member’s recovery be swift. ♡

When I’ve felt overwhelmed and like my body is taking the brunt of a lot of my accumulated stress I like to do some yoga or progressive muscle relaxation!

I hope you’re able to find something that helps you relax a little more.
