I’m super anxious to go to the airport & get on an airplane. I’ve done it before but it never gets any easier. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to get through this?
Flying & Airports: I’m super anxious to go... - Anxiety Support
Flying & Airports
Hi, Uphellyah. I sympathize with you. I took my first flight about a yr and a half ago and I'm 48 yrs old; I was nervous, too. I had a 1 and 1/2 HR flight to and from my destination, and had been thinking a lot about the flight even when I got on the plane. I can't say that I was totally comfortable w/ going, but I had to. Once I got a little into the flight, I was more calm and was thinking that the pilot knows what he's doing and everything will be okay... And it was!
On my way to where I was going, I hadn't wanted a window seat or to even look out of the window, but on the way back, all I wanted to do was look out! I was a whole lot less anxious and really enjoyed the flight. So, while I don't have any tips about flying, know that you are definitely not the only one who feels anxious about it. I think probably millions of people are. They say flying is safer than driving a car.
Good luck w/ everything! You will be fine. 😊
Rescue remedy for me, and lots of distraction, books, iPad with Tv shows already downloaded or films, music, and I always keep a valium in my wallet, although never used it I think it helps knowing it’s there. I have always hated flying and my biggest fear is a panic attack on a plane, but funnily enough I have never had one on a plane as yet. Got to fly again next year 🙃
GPS will give you Diazapan ( Valium) to take for flights in future. They work like magic x
Try asking your GP if they can give you something to relax you for the journey and return. Because of my PTSD I am unable to travel away from my home so my Doctor gave me just enough for the travelling times.
