It's a sad time here in the U.K. The Queen represented constancy in a rapidly changing world. She devoted her life to the service of her people, no question of retirement for her. She will be sorely missed.
Long live the King!

My condolences Jeff to all of you in the UK and especially to all my friends
on this forum who will truly miss the Queen
Truly very, very sad indeed! Especially seeing photos of her a couple of days ago. She was standing up and smiling although looking frail, such a shock!

bloody hell, just spent ages typing a reply and lost it 🤯
By the Queens death Jeff, memories have stirred of her life. I remember as a 4 year old on 8th February 1952. I lived just a stones throw from the Great West Road, in Brentford, before the Great west Road became the M4 Motorway. We had heard about the death of King George 6th two days earlier, and had been told the new Queen was landing at London Airport and coming the Gt West Road at around 5 - 6pm. It was a cold winters day, when our winters were cold, frosty and pea green smoggy. We waited and as she was driven past all the girls bobbed our first curtsy, whilst all the boys took off their caps and bowed. Sometimes I long for those halcyon days of yore, when love and respect were the order of the day. It seems surreal that Elizabeth has passed, never to be seen again. She deserves her rest with the Heavenly Father she loved and served so well. May she rest in peace, and rise in glory. May all who mourn her loss, know the release of tears and the comfort of His grace. Amen. Long Live the King.
Thank you for sharing your memories and thoughts on the passing of the second Elizabeth: born to serve both Man and God.
I too remember the occasion when the old King died in 1952. I was in class at primary school and the headmistress entered the room and whispered in our teacher's ear. When she had left our teacher turned to the class and said: "Children, the King has died!" I was stunned. How could we continue with school, surely we would all be sent home to mourn. Of course, it never happened.
