Took 500 mg of Napoxen for pain and got stomach pain

This was after reading the side effects…

I’ve taken it before without any issues

Wanted to find out if was taken every 8 hours

I took the pill an hour after dinner

I’m literally freaking out this is making my migraine worse

Personally I find that naproxen is the one thing I can depend on to prevent migraines. I don't take it for that - just when prescribed for joint issues. Some people can experience stomach issues as a result of using Naproxen - or any other NSAIDs (eg ibuprofen) - but it isn't something that affects everyone. It may be worth speaking to the dispensing chemist - definitely if issues are still continuing. There are gastro-resistant forms of naproxen that can be prescribed to patients who have stomach issues.

Hi Danielle, I'm sorry to hear about the migraine you had but wanted to letyou know that you did well in eating before taking meds.

I too suffered from intense headaches at one time. I always, always protected

my stomach by eating something before medicating.

Another thing is to not overtake the meds or you end up getting rebound

headaches. Pain medication of any sort can be harsh on the stomach but the

fact that you got the stomach pain after you read the side effects, lets me think

he may have just been the power of suggestion by anxiety.

I've been on 4 naproxen a day for 10 years for fibro and arthritis . The doctor told me to take a round of Prilosec so it wouldn't upset my stomach. I think you take Prilosec for a week or maybe 10 days.I've only had to do that twice in 10 years.
