I’ve been having very real and very frightening feelings that something terrible was about to happen, and that my life was in imminent, serious danger. The feelings only happen when I am dozing, or trying to relax, and they fill me with such a sudden dread that unless I can fully wake up, I will very probably die.
I read a webpage that said that these are often genuine ‘warnings’ that our body is giving us to alert us to the fact that something is terribly wrong and needs our immediate attention, but I have also read that they are fairly normal and are often caused by an accumulation of stress. Has had anything similar, or does anyone have any knowledge of what this might be? Thank you in advance for any hell, you are able to give.

Oh i have experienced this sooooo often!! This is a classic anxiety symptom. Just disregard it and focus attention on something else. Accept the symptom and just let it be there but go on with your day.If experiencing anxiety you are probably stressed out or feeling down so its nornal for you to feel like that. I can tell you i have experienced this so many times and sometimes for weeks and even months.
Thank you so much for your reply. I was desperately worried this morning, but I feel so much better for hearing from you on this, and you’ve made me feel so much better for helping me with this.
Thank you so much again, and have a happy rest of the day.
GrahamB8, flower speaks the truth in that anxiety can present itself in anyway at
anytime. The reason behind that feeling is because the adrenaline never really leaves
our body when living with daily anxiety. It just takes small amounts of adrenaline (called free floating anxiety) to show itself when we are trying to relax.
It could happen upon hearing something, a startle, an odor etc. We have such have such an over sensitized nervous system that it doesn't take much to feel doom and gloom.
Should that happen, the best thing you can do is Breathe. Practicing proper breathing techniques on a daily basis can eliminate that dreaded feeling within moments. It is not
dangerous. You're okay. It's going to be alright my friend. xx
Yes I experience this quite often lately also. It’s a terrible feeling. I use to get it now and again when I was younger, and I always thought it was more of an intuition type thing. Now I recognize it as anxiety. Breathing technique works for me. I’ll also try to find something to do to occupy my thoughts and change my thinking patterns. I hope this helps 😀
