I am worried sick to my stomach!! I’ve had an ache in the right side of my groin since last year. I was sent to a hernia specialist and they ruled out a hernia. Then in March I found a lump in my groin. I then found another next to it and so In sept I had an ultrasound which showed one to be enlarged at 14mm. They said they thought it was just a reactive node but that they would refer me to haematology as my gran had lymphoma in her groin. Haematology said they were happy they didn’t wanna see me. Anyways the ache has gotten worse and it’s right where the two lymph nodes are. They haven’t gone down and the smaller one of the two has now grown bigger than the first. It’s hard and I can feel so much pressure in that area. I’ve been back to haematology and they said they would send me for another ultrasound for my own piece of mind to see if they’ve grown. They said they start worrying if they get to 15mm which is only 1mm bigger than mine was back in sept.
I am literally so sick with worry, I can’t think that it can be anything else. If it was infection they would have gone down by now and certainly not grown so I don’t know what else it could be. I’m so scared

Hi
I can totally understand why you would feel worried and I can also understand why your mind will have jumped to the scenario that it has , it would me to
However what happened and what your gran had wrong is not you and what is happening with you could be harmless , easy for me to say but I know you will no doubt still worry
You have to now get this sorted for your own peace of mind as soon as you can insist they do something about this and if they refuse then find out the complaint procedure , tell them straight you are not happy , even ask them for a second opinion , tell them you also want them to note all this down how you have expressed your concerns on your records and what you have asked to be done , if you feel they are fobbing you of then stand up to them and make them listen , I have often had to do this , we should not have to but sometimes it is the only way we can get sorted
Make it your New Years resolution that you won't take no for an answer
Thank you I definitely will push it, the haematologist knew how anxious I was and that’s why she’s agreed another ultrasound but I already had bad health anxiety before all this and now these lumps have just made it ten times worse. It’s hard to think of any other explanation because when I read about it I can’t find one other than infection and I doubt I’ve had an infection for this long
I understand , I to have HA and recently had something that was not HA go wrong so I get the fear you are gong through and I am not happy with some of my treatment but I know not only because what I am physically suffering from but mentally I have to keep pushing till they listen to me and you do the same x
I would have thought that swollen lymph nodes in the groin would be a sign of infection in the area. Surprised you’ve not been given a course of ciprofloxacin, as that is the preferred antibiotic for infections in that area - you might ask if they have definitely ruled that out.
Well I’ve had them since March and because there was no redness or anything they didn’t think infection. You can’t even see the swollen nodes, it’s only when you feel for them that you can find them but when I read about it, it says infection nodes should go down within a few weeks
I got bit by some type of bug (didn’t see it, but saw two tiny bite marks on my butt) back in late December 2019. Because of this I also have two slightly enlarged lymph nodes on the top left side of my groin that I was told could just remain that way forever. I figured after taking antibiotics they would shrink in size but that has NOT happened, so of course my HA convinced me I had some type of illness. Finally got blood work and an ultrasound in June and everything was fine and within a normal range. The biggest thing I had to learn was to stop touching and checking them, because that actually causes irritation and swelling the more I messed with them. Since I am healthy overall I just try to ignore them. I challenged myself to not touch them for 90 days, and the pain and irritation I was feeling slowly decreased. For piece of mind, call you doctor and ask for a Complete Blood Count and (if applicable to you) get tested for STDs, as they can cause swollen nodes in that area too, although you would probably have other symptoms depending on if you are male or female. Good luck and try to keep a positive mindset. I spent six months in hell this year, worrying I had a serious disease. Shit, I was more worried about my lymph nodes than catching COVID-19. Edit to add: Ask then for an MRI or CT Scan if you continue to have pain that won’t go away, even after you stop touching the nodes.
