I used to get bad migraines with aura about 15 years ago. My doctor thought they were caused by my birth control, so I switched and didn't have any more. Until last week. I've been on a new pill for about 4 months, not sure if that's causing it or if it's the awful stress I've been under lately (breakup, job stress, etc). I haven't been getting a lot of sleep either. The aura is like a bunch of sparkly zig zag lights off in my peripheral vision. It starts as a tiny spot and progresses, then gradually fades over the course of 30 minutes or so. By then I have a headache. My vision feels weird and I'm tired for a couple hours after. I don't have any other symptoms, so I'm hoping it's not some kind of stroke or brain tumor...it seems like classic migraine to me but I'm worried because I've had 3 or 4 in the last week. I'm already someone who is paranoid about seeing floaters etc, so I keep trying to see if my vision is OK and I'm scared all the time that I'm going to get one. I won't have insurance till January so I can't go to the doctor and reassure myself. Does anyone else get these and worry about them? Any advice for calming down? I'm afraid at this point my anticipatory anxiety might help bring one on. Another lifestyle factor that may not be helping: I read a lot and am on the computer all day for work, plus I need new glasses.

Migraine aura anxiety
Hello
I had my first aura migraine at 12 Then I would get them 4 times a year
But when I got in my middle 40's I started having them monthly , weekly even , just how you explain they are
It could be the pill , hormones , I am 57 and mone got more as I went into the menopause
Speak with your Doctor the pill may need changing but be reassured someone else suffers and migraines most of the time are just one of those things some of us suffer from and it also sounds like you have been going through some stressful situations which can bring them on as well as anxiety
Take Care x
Thank you so much for responding! That makes me feel a little better. I always worry about strokes and things like that but it doesn't seem like that's likely since the aura is the only symptom that's even remotely like that. Also, I'm 39 so hormonal changes are possible, I've heard perimenopause can have lots of symptoms.
Hello
Many suffer with aura migraines and yes they can increase as you get older and was when I started in the perimenopause mine came with revengeance and decided to stay !
If you want that reassurance from your Doctor then ask but I imagine everything will be ok even though I know they are awful when you get them
Hope they settle down soon x
I get this love exactly how you have explain it , I have one may by every 2 months , soon as you feel your eye zig zagging get some paracetamol then you might not get the bad headache this helps me a lot xxx
