I was prescribed Celexa, scared to try. I’m afraid once I start an antidepressant I will be on them forever.

Celexa, Your thoughts?
Hi Tweetg, we all our afraid to try new medications. The what ifs play hard with our
Anxiety. On the other hand, how do we know what we may be missing unless we try it.
It doesn't have to be a life time prescription. If it makes you start feeling better and
functioning better, it is so well worth putting your fear aside and giving it a try. xx
Don't know anything about that drug but I have been on anti depressents for about30 to 40 years now continuously..refuse to come off them when my doctor suggests it. I don't care as I feel they keep the black clouds at bay ( well most of the time!!) And are easier to increase than start up again if needed.
Been on it for 15 years. It works wonderful but once you feel better speak to your doctor about coming off, don’t let them just keep giving them to you like me.
And if you don’t at least try them you’ll be in this state forever.!!! 🥴 I’d bite the bullet and give them a try:). Good luck:):)
I’ve had to use it a few times when my anxiety gets bad. I usually am on it about a year, then when I wean off it, I usually am good for several years. Recently I am on it and have been on it a little longer this time, about a year and a half, and this time I have no set plan on when to get off it. 2020 didn’t seem like a good time to try 🤣. All jokes aside though, I stay on a low dose and have never actually raised my dose from my start one. It seems like it may have taken longer to really work well but when it finally worked it really worked. Worth it 100% to me, but my doctor did give me hydroxyzine to take as needed for the few weeks my body was adjusting because I did have slightly higher anxiety feelings a couple times when I first started. It is an antihistamine but is also prescribed for anxiety.
