Pinched nerve in leg with pain

Getting horrendous pain in my right leg. Started on 3rd of August my birthday ended up in A&E they took bloods and told me d dimer was now over 1000! Had ultrasound on my leg and chest to rule out a clot they were all clear. Waiting for physio to contact me. Been to out of hours gp this afternoon she said it's a pinched nerve with nerve ending pain, had anyone else had this? She's given me codiene, I literally feel like someone is either pinching my leg, my leg is burning or it feels like someone is stabbing me on the back of my calf, can't get comfy somtimes. Dr has told me to ask for an mri scan on my back to see where the problem is... How long does this go on for? The pain is unreal starting to get mirror image pains in my left leg aswell now.

I have heard they can be very painful , codeine is quite a good painkiller I hope it helps

Hi

This is my story of leg pain ( its a long one and I hope yours is completely different)

Started in March with a burning in right hip ,every time I got up from laying down it burnt so bad and leg felt like it would give way . It got that bad that I had to literally drag myself up the stairs by the bannister. The pain left my hip and moved to lower leg felt like shin splints . At this point I contacted gp he said sciatica prescribed pain killers and said keep moving ( phone consultation due to lock down ) . Next I had to isolate due to family members being symptomatic. These two weeks the pain took over my right calf my ankle swelled and so did foot . Once isolation finishes I went to out of hours to be told it may be sciatica and the foot issues could be gout ,given stronger pain killers . Back on the phone to gp can I have tests for gout reply no not at this point. Signed off as could not by now sleep or tolerate socks or shoes. Back to out of hours foot xrayed no break . Work told me to see chiropractor, couldn't find one so booked osteopath. Osteopath thought one of three things 1 sciatica 2 periformis syndrome 3 degenerative disc disease.

Next stop a+e as was making no improvement they checked me out for blood clots said all good on that score . And wrote to gp to tell him to refer me for mri. Gave more pain killers, by this time mess were making guts bad and it was easier to take pain than upset guts .

A week passed and I phoned gp to chase mri he refused to refer as not emergency.

I continued to see Osteopath for 4 sessions but he was not happy as we were not progressing so also wrote to gp for mri . Still no from go .

By now my toes were rigid and ball of feet also swollen . Went to podiatrist who gave some exercises.

By then I had been off work 12 weeks ,somewhere in that we had the covid in the house

I went and bought larger shoes and returned to work .

Today as I write this my lower back is stiff ,right thigh is 6 cm smaller than left ( muscle wastage )

Right thigh burns but not as much as it did. Foot still swollen as is ankle . Have managed to improve toes they bend better

Gp still no help .

Hi i started with pains down both legs about a month ago ( not sciatica, I know that pain!!) And now have lower back pain and very achy arms. The GP has told me to actually go and see him regarding my bones!!!! I am really scared about what it could be as I have had breast cancer....so the H A kicks in yet again and makes it all worse!!! I think you are really brave keep goi ng back and going to AE for tests etc. Well done you...Hope you get to the bottom of it .
