Everyday Health Anxiety

Hello.. I’ve had some bouts with anxiety throughout my life, but about 3 years ago it came back and I’ve not been able to kick it since. I’m 36 years old now with a wife and two children. Everyday I get to a point where I start feeling “off” is the best way to describe it. I have skipped heartbeats, feel woozy, and almost dizzy.

I’ve had many tests with my doctor and seen a therapist. Been on Prozac and Xanax. I just can’t seem to get better. My thoughts everyday are that I’m going to have a heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest, faint, drop dead. It’s all I think about and can’t change it. It’s like I’m convinced it will happen each day. I seem to be fine at night, but the days are awful unless I’m occupied with work.

Any suggestions on how I can try and get over this? It’s not fine thinking you’re going to drop dead everyday and has taken away the fun in life.

Hello I always feel the same too your not alone it’s horrible everyday I think something gonna happen to me and it’s like you can’t enjoy things much are I worry to much I have trued something different when I get up off a morning I try and think happy and put my favourite music on hope your okay x

I don’t have any suggestions, but I just wanted to say you aren’t alone. I am in the exact same mental state right now- and everyday for that matter. Nights are better for me also.

Some things that have helped me are realizing that thoughts are just thoughts, and recognizing that I’ve felt the feelings before. But I still struggle daily. The breakthrough moments of a clear mind and no nasty feelings is what keeps me going. xx

Hi

As someone who has been going through this for I guess about 6 years. My advice to you is to find s good therapist and read up as much as you can on the subject . My two go to author are doctor claire weekes she was I think a nurse in Australia and her books are old fashioned but very relevant u can also find her on you tube. For a more modern take try the dare response by Barry McDonough. I also like the anxiety guy on you tube.

I have a tear in my eye it’s like I’m reading about myself..

I’m exactly the same going through the same I’ve got exactly the same right now I’ve had anxiety and depression for over 20 years but health anxiety I’ve had for the last 13 years and it’s draining and very scary to have all these thoughts but also have the physical symptoms as well is even worse I’m obsessed with my heart at the minute I am constantly checking my heart rate to see if it’s high or low I also get my anxiety in the morning the worst I constantly shake and I also have this terrible feeling in the pit of my gut that something is wrong

Thank you all for your replies and well wishes. I’m sorry that others are going through this as well and it is comforting to get others that understand and wish you well. I wish there was a quick fix for anyone that deals with this. Thinking and feeling like you are going to drop dead everyday just isn’t fun at all. I hope everyone is well.

I have suffered with severe health anxiety for about 15 years.

You can imagine my complete horror when last September I was diagnosed with a blood clot in my spleen 2 times in 5 weeks!

I have no idea how I have coped these last 10 months. My doctors have been incredibly surprised with how I have coped, but I remember one doctor saying to me “you didn’t survive this pain to suffer emotionally”

I still suffer from health anxiety but I am more conscious about the effects anxiety can have on my body physically. Once you recognise them you can almost put your mind at ease that it is just a symptom of anxiety and nothing more.

Please reach out and get help, whether that is therapy, or medication.

It does get easier.❤️
