I just wrote a post ranting about test anxiety but oh boy was I in for a new world of anxiety.
I went to schedule my math assessment that needs to be completed BEFORE my orientation. Well of freaking course, there are no dates available before my orientation. I have a week! I didn’t even consider I couldn’t do it!! And the reason I haven’t done it is because I didn’t think I would need to since I AM NOT taking math at my university. Also up until last week I was still taking concurrent and high school, so it’s not like I’ve loads of free time!!!
I mean what the heck am I supposed to do now. I don’t freaking know what to do. I’ve already emailed two different people about it and neither one has answered me yet. Meanwhile I just have to watch as the openings for test times slip away because I don’t know when I should schedule it. This is a freaking disaster. My freaking procrastination has finally screwed me over.

Hey! I’m also in college. It can be really stressful.
I’m sorry these deadlines and available sessions aren’t lining up in a way that makes it easier for you.
Could you schedule one and then reschedule it, depending on the responses you get from the emails? It might be good to snag a spot, just in case.
I know a lot of colleges have math assessments to evaluate your math skills to help place you in the correct math course. But, this doesn’t sound like that? Is it a math exam so you are exempt from taking a math course? Like it’ll give you credit so you don’t have to take the math class? (So you have to do well on it?)
If it’s just an assessment of what math level you’re at, but you don’t have to take a math class, then I would just get it done and over with.
Plus with the whole global pandemic thing, they might be more lax about you needing to complete it? Maybe you can take it after the orientation.
Usually, orientations need you to complete things before them so that the advisors have all the information they can to help you. It helps them help you. So yeah.
Good luck!!! It isn’t easy. I’m glad you are taking the steps to do what you need. You’ve got this. They’re there to help.
The math assessment is to find out where to place me. And I think most of my annoyance stemmed from the fact that here I am, worrying myself ragged over this whole thing when in the end it’s just a check off a box on THEIR list but not beneficial to me. The stupidity of it all was annoying.
Hi DemureRose, in your reply to PastelPink, you said that you are annoyed. That’s good. You’ve expressed an entirely appropriate response to your dilemma. You’re not stressed, your annoyed.
Regarding your test. Whatever it’s for, your Uni want and need you to attend as they lose funding if they don’t have your bum on their seat at the start of term. So just keep firing off emails, keep them as evidence of having tried. Remember no one is working normally, due to lockdown. Look on your Uni website for phone numbers, try speaking to people, get to the right person. If they are not available get their email. You’ll get there.
