I’m failing

I keep getting what I think are adrenaline rushes after I get calm. I feel my heart speed up and my hands go tingly and I start burping and getting panicky. I did so good at my doctors appointment I don’t understand. 😔😞 I am trying to do everything right and it seems i can’t get a break! 😭😪

Hi anon, I just read over your post both before and after seeing the doctor.

I'm positive that having Gretel follow you through made a big difference.

Now that you're on your own, the what ifs and doubts start to surface. Adrenaline

rushes are exactly what you are experiencing when you are alone. When your

hands go tingly, know that you are over breathing and start concentrating on slowing

down your breathing.. You have more control over your body than you think you do.

Control that will do good and not harm to both you and the baby.

Let me get back to you. I'm going to find some good Meditations on YouTube that

will be able to help you. You did good at the doctor's office and that's a good sign.

Everything is okay. :) xx

Ty Agora. I talked to my midwife about my fears and she assured me I wouldn’t die. But I still am a bit nervous about things going wrong. Hearing her say this did help me. I guess it’s just hard believing that in a few weeks I’ll actually have a tiny human. Anxiety makes me feel yucky. Like I just want to shower and wash all the bad feelings off.

anon, I'd like you to take a few moments for yourself. This video on YouTube

are affirmations that will allow you to relax and bring down your anxiety.

"Relaxation Meditation Preparing for Labor & Delivery/Hypnobirth"

Find a quiet place, lower the lights, close your eyes and breathe. Listening

to this every day at least 2-3 times a day will make you feel more in control

of your body and your mind. You are going to do just fine. The gift of life

is the most precious gift a woman can receive. Hugs, Agora1 :) xx

It’s understandable that you are feeling very anxious especially at this time. I’m also feeling rather anxious about everything. Try to distract yourself by doing nice things for yourself and try to sit outside and concentrate on your breathing in for 3 hold for 4 and exhale slowly for 5. If you do that for a few minutes you will feel calmer x

Hi Anon - something that helps is no matter the symptoms - even if you’ve had them before or not, try to ignore. It is almost impossible with a new symptom but I would guess the adrenaline that has built up in your body is causing random adrenaline firing. This usually happens to me for a few days after a very stressful time. The way to handle is to try to ignore it and eventually your body will settle. If you focus on it, and worry, your body will continue to make the stress hormones. This is a common thing for me and I imagine this is what’s going on if you have been anxious lately. The burping is probably from your breathing changing as a result of the anxiety.

Also - on a side note - I have generalized anxiety - mainly health anxiety- and have 2 kids - 3 and 5. I was a wreck throughout the pregnancy and at drs appts but when it came to delivering, I was able to handle it and get through it without my anxiety taking over. Both healthy babies and standard recovery. The worry was most certainly worse than actuality. You will be fine !! Your body was made for this and in times of stress, you will be able to focus and overcome :)

It’s so hard to do it everyday! I know I’ve felt this way before but my mind always goes to “what if this time is different...” Were you anxious about labor? I always get over one fear and then boom another one pops up. It really makes it worse when my mind puts pictures of stuff happening to me.
