Hi. Does anyone else experience a cough with GERD/acid reflux? If so, how do you soothe the cough? Thanks.

Hi Peacewithin1, first of all are you taking any anti-anxiety or anti-depressant medications because I know that with pregabalin in particular I had to come off it for that reason I WAS frequently coughing up acid and vomitting so the GP prescribed me Lansoprazole 30mg at first 'this was 2012' and the more my pregabalin was increased the worst my coughing/wheezing were to the point I couldn't go to bed because as soon as I lay down it started on me and wouldn't stop so I have had to sit up all night many of times. I have been on 60mg now for the last nearly 3 years . I had a barium test - X Rays all down my digestive tract and more tests for the GP and I got the "all clear" and was diagnosed with a 'Somatoform disorder' in other words GERD symptoms caused by extreme anxiety stress and OCD they trigger it off, so I also have to take Gaviscon off the GP to go with my Lansoprazole. But when I'm most calm its not too bad then.

Hi. No I don't take any anti-anxiety or anti-depressants. I could just have a nervous stomach. Idk.

Hi Paula-38

Just came across your post.

Hope you don’t mind me asking, but did it feel like you had a piece of food lodged.

I so conscious when i eat incase i choke. i have a panic if my dog starts choking.

Wondering if this is Anxiety related along with irritation caused by hayfever !

Hi. I used to feel like I had something stuck in my throat which made me scared to eat and I started to see a psychologist at that time. It was caused by anxiety. I didn't take any antidepressants but once I started to control my anxiety it went away.

Hi. I have This. It makes me so anxious all the time . It’s like the food hasn’t gone down so then I panic that it will block my air way. When I see people eat hard boiled sweets it really makes me feel uneasy I feel like I’m choking. When I eat and feel the food stuck I feel like I need to burp but it dosent come out . It’s not nice atall. Anyway I explained all this to my gp and they said it’s acid reflux and weirdly since they told me that I’ve been absolutely fine I can eat ok. No treatment or anything .

I get acid reflux also altho its more like gas that j have that causes the acid reflux not a cough. Have you tried anything over the counter like gaviscon or rennies. My Dr told me to just take gaviscon after I had a meal and before bed x
