I’m still convinced I have a heart problem..

I went to the doctor and got a couple of test and I don’t know the names of it so I’m going to try to explain it. One test I had stickers all over me and the seconds test I had a monitor for about a week. She said my heart was normal but she thinks I have PVC’s. Mind you this was a long time ago. My heart palpitations has gotten way more better but everytime it beats weird it makes me think there’s something wrong with me cause it catches me off guard. I am super afraid of sudden deaths. I’m only 17 I don’t want to die early.

I have been down his path....just not as young as you. Saw cardiologist twice, wore Holter monitor for 10 days, echo-cardiogram, and stress test. My outcome was similar, I am bradycardia which means slow heart rate which is actually better than fast and nothing I can do (not candidate for pace-maker because no exhaustion, fainting etc) She also showed me on her screen the 100s of palpitations I am having. Here is what I had to be FORCED to pay attention to... these palpitations, that I feel, were NOT affecting my heart rhythm and therefore were not dangerous. I am now on low dose birth control because she feels that may help calm the hormones which may calm the palps... I understand your stress, push your doctors to explain in a way YOU understand so that you can find peace. xoxoxoxo

You are not going to die of a heart attack at the tender age of 17, why would you? Heart attacks usually happen to much older people either due to bad lifestyle choices or the heart wearing out. If you have had tests and they have come back clear then you need to believe the doctors.

Don't waste your life worrying about dying please.

I currently deal with this annoying form of hypochondria...its annoying but it can be overcome. Mine started on Feb 28th, watched a hockey player on tv get CPR (he is alive and well, and is 38!) And mine started..I thought to myself "what if I have a cardiac issue out of nowhere..just dropping on my face scares me..it kept me up for 2 nights straight and I even went to the ER for heart tests Etc..all good..healthy heart despite me using dipping tobacco and the occasional drinking I'll do every once in 2-3 weeks..no assurance..every day passed and nothing happened to me..anxiety affects and dominates the thought process of our brains..if you ever feel the need for assurance...there's a thing doctors do to heart patients called a "stress test"...go out for a jog, maybe even a 5 minute sprint, these things will even help you're cardiovascular system (and exercise is also good for anxiety)..I also recommend the acceptance method..accept these thoughts..its okay to even be fearful of acceptance...intrusive thoughts caused by anxiety have their power because we enable them..we obsess over them, but with accepting these thoughts and almost having a "so what" attitude towards them..these thoughts will begin to lose power..before you know it they will disappear and you wont even notice it! We cant think ourselves into harm..if we could this world will be a crazy place. We got this..YOU got this..(also food for thought, heart beat is controlled by the "automatic nervous system" something we have no control over..so worrying about something isnt gonna make it happen or keep it from happening) much love 💜💜

Oh young one, I am so sad for your fears. My PVCs started when I was 16 just after taking pain meds (now off the market) for a dental procedure. For ME, they are brought on by stress, low magnesium, low potassium, hormones, dehydration, GERD and more stress and the fear of them. They have haunted and plagued me off and on for years. Do NOT let them ruin your life. I've had every cardiac test for these things over many years and they have never changed. If you don't trust your doctor, insist on a cardiologist just to be sure and then if the result is the same, learn to live with it. I am now 65 and still rolling. But the things I have missed because of my fear are innumerable. Looking back and knowing I let the scaries run my life is tragic. Don't let that happen to you. If you need to see a counselor for the fear, do so. BTW, there is a cardiologist on youtube named Sanjay Gupta at York Cardiology in England. He is fabulous for explaining things. Good luck to you.

The test you had where an ECG short for electrocardiogram. The other test is a holter monitor test which records how your heart is beating through the day and night. Most people have at least 2 or three PvC's . But some people can have hundreds in 24 hours. All considered harmless. If you had 1000's they might consider ablation. But in a structurally healthy heart PVC are considered harmless. If your not totally convinced ask for an echo of your heart. If this shows your heart itself is healthy then that will and should rest your mind that all is well. Having ectopics is just in some ways like your heart is hiccuping. And hiccuping is not dangerous. Hope this helps. Do ask for the echo to put your mind at rest xx

Hi duchexs1226 I am 84. I had palpitations for years. Had tests also. Was told not to smoke, drink liquor etc. Six months after I retired they went away. I still have a slight one but it is stress. Try just to ignore these. You will be fine
