8 days after finger cut

So I cut a decent chunk of my finger just over a week ago and was wondering if this looks like it’s healing well as can’t see gp because of corona 😊

I guess as long as it's not swollen or has puss in it your good. But I'm no doctor I might be totally wrong about this. If you haven't already put some ointment for cuts and scrapes on it to allow it to heal better and keep the cut clean. Hope you feel better and it heals good.

Yeh had fully sealed over just very red no blood puss or swelling so seems it’s healing really good 😊

Yeh I’m letting it get some air every day lucky I didn’t cut to the nail tbh as that would be a different kettle of fish 🐟

I like to take a minute to remind people telemedicine is available in alot of areas. You book a regular appointment. I believe you would be able to show this to your MD.

I know we are from all around the world so things vary.

No swollen just can’t really feel the end there’s no puss just dead skin flaking off and seems it’s seeled over 😊

Looks good if infected it would be more red around cut or there would be red sreaks.

Yes it looks fine, the size of the open wound will shrink as it heals, as new skin has to grow. You should be putting a dry dressing on the finger, mainly to keep any dirt/bugs out. A long as it progresses as I have said it should heal ok, if you are in doubt see if you can get a tele appointment (facetime) with the practice nurse, you do not need to see a Dr, the nurse will decide this if required. Hope all goes well.

Hey there’s a small bit of scabbing on my finger that’s hanging of should I take the scab of or leave it ?

If you can take the scab off without making it bleed that's fine - a bit of a judgement call. Otherwise let it come off naturally, when its ready. If it does bleed don't worry just cover with a dry dressing (eg plaster) until a scab has formed. Important not to get finger infected again.

What does scabbing mean infection ? As I don’t think it’s infected what do you mean ?

Looks ok but beware if any green skin appears and get to a Doctor if any does. I would continue to apply something like Neosporin and keep bandaged.
