Primary doctor wants me on Paxil and neurologist wants me on Topiramate. Plus, I take other meds for anxiety and pain. When is to many drugs? I’ve been reading the side effects of Paxil - I’m young. I want a full life not being numb and no sex drive. I don’t want to gain weight. They say this Is the worst anti-depressant to come off as well. It also interacts with a lot of other meds. With Topiramate it said that serious eye problems can occur. I’m deaf and I don’t need eye issues on top of that. Also you have to drink a lot of water or you can develop kidney stones. I want to feel better but I’m scared to try the meds. I’m scared it’s going to cause a whole lot of other issues that I couldn’t handle.
I have a lot of anxiety and on meds for that. Dr. Thinks I should add Paxil for depression. She knows I don’t like meds. But convinced me to take it home and try it for two weeks. I took the meds home but have not taken any. After a few days I called the office and said they made me sick. I lied. I don’t want her mad at me for not taking them. I haven’t talked to her. I see her in two weeks. Maybe they will give me something else to try.
Do any of you guys have a fear taking too many meds? Or are the side effects they have?

You poor thing , it sounds like a lot of meds and I totally get your med fear as I suffer with it to !
I have just been given a new med , not for anxiety but for something else and have to be honest I am freaking out but at the same time I know I have to give it a good go because I need it for the physical issue I have
I have also done what you have before and told a lie I have taken them when I havn't so you are not alone doing that one
Have you sat as this is your health and asked yourself what you really think you need regarding your meds and written it down and told them ?
Your post explains how you feel so well I would be honest and tell them everything you have written here and see if you can come to some kind of compromise , you have as much right in any decisions regarding what meds you take and if you are not happy tell them and why
I hope you will find a compromise where you will get help from your meds but not feeling you are drugged up or taking to many
I understand med anxiety. I can't tell you how many I've been on and off of over the last 5 years. Right now I'm on 5 different meds for anxiety and depression.
I always say it's risk versus benefit. It's also quality of life. Only you can decide how you want to handle the meds.
One thing I would say is never feel you need to lie to your medical team. If you make a choice stand by your choice. It's a collaborative effort. They can prescribe and educate you on why they choose what they do. You have every right to refuse.
Best of luck. I hope you find some solutions and begin to feel better.
