It’s hard for me to understand that my mind can make me think I’m hurting this bad?
All in my head: It’s hard for me to... - Anxiety Support
All in my head
Hi Tiffiney, are you hurting physically or emotionally?
Have you been checked out by your doctor for any health issues? xx
Both... my doctor says I have anxiety... she says there is nothing physical wrong with me...
Tiffiney, our minds are very powerful instruments. Our anxiety comes from one thought that then multiples as we focus on it. The fear starts to grow when physical
sensations appear. And before long we've created a cycle of fear. Mix that in with
"what ifs" and adrenaline will rise. Whether you are on medication or not, we still
need to accept that this is not life threatening. This is nothing but a lie that our mind
is telling us. Do not fight the feeling, accept it and use a method that works for you.
As for myself, I meditate and do breathing exercises. Not only when anxiety should
make it's appearance but every single day. By doing this, we are always one step
ahead of anxiety and it can be controlled easier and eventually disappear.
A good book to read is by Dr. Claire Weekes called "Hope & Help for your Nerves",
it is also on YouTube in video form. Anxiety is explained in a simple layman's language
that you will be surprised in how easy our mind can trick us into believing we're dying.
Dr Weekes theory is now accepted by many therapists and doctors who believe she
found the "key" to ridding yourself of anxiety. I hope you will take a look or listen.
Never give up hope. Don't stay stuck, go forward taking one small step at a time.
You WILL reach your goal Tiffiney. We are here to help you through this xx
Thank you so much, I’ll listen to that... can my mind really make me think my legs are hurting so bad I can’t hardly walk?
Tiffiney, anxiety can effect all parts of the body. Only your doctor can
let you know if a physical issue is causing the pain in your legs. xx
Does anxiety cause pain... sorry for all the questions, new too this, I’ll try the book ... thank you!
Tiffiney, never have to say "sorry" on this site. We all have been there
ourselves and understand all the questions that come with anxiety.
Anxiety can cause a barrage of symptoms because the muscles never really
relax. Our nervous system is over sensitized making our body feel it's always
on "alert".
Ask away as many questions as you need to. The more you learn about anxiety
the easier it is to understand and treat. Take a look at Dr. Weekes' videos on
YouTube. I think that in itself may answer some of your questions but more
than that, it will give you some assurance that this does not have to be a
lifetime sentence. Take it one day at a time... xx
