I have stopped taking Zoloft recently. I have been on it for over 6 years. I weaned off of it over the course of 6 weeks or so. I completely stopped taking it about a week and a half ago and I think I am having major withdrawal. I'm dizzy, emotional, anxious and extremely nauseous. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how long did it last. My Dr gave me an Ativan prescription to take as needed and I've been taking 1mg probably 5 out of the last 7 days. Now I'm worrying that I will be withdrawing from that too. The psychiatrist gave me a prescription for Prozac that he wanted me to start but I'm not sure if that will make things better or worse. This is absolutely horrible. Any advice would be great!

Withdrawal from Zoloft
Hello, ive been in your position and am now. I was on zoloft for a couple years. It worked fine. Came off and a year later or so i started having bad symptoms i had previously before taking zoloft. So i got on zoloft again and it didnt work. Made me worse. I tried lexapro, made me worse. Same with trazodone. I do take ativan and that works great. Im just as confused as you with the meds. I am debating to give the ssris another shot. But idk. I still havent managed to see a psychiatrist yet
I found an excellent website which might help: verywellmind.com/tapering-o.... I have been tapering down from 200 to 100 mg, but I think I will stop there. In the past I came off altogether and had a serious breakdown, so I am content to remain on Sertraline (Zoloft) for life. I have tried 50 mg, but I don't think that is enough for me. When my depression started, on 7/7/05, I was put on Prozac, because I had suppressed anger about the break-up of my first marriage. Around 2010 a student doctor changed me to Sertraline because I had become anxious about losing my current wife because I could not get better. In other words, Prozac is for the past, and Sertraline is for the future. I hope this helps a little, but do be patient as everything to do with the brain seems to take months to heal!
