Hi everyone! How are you?

Recently I switched primary care doctors after I found out that my current doctor was somewhat of a scam. A little background:

My mom is a natural/herb remedy fanatic. One of those anti-vaxxer types because she thinks that it’ll make your child have some horrible disease. She believes in some modern medicine, but not most of it. This isn’t hate to be directed to anyone’s personal beliefs, but it gives background to my current situation.

When I got older and started making my own health choices I realized that her opinions differed from mine and proceeded to get all of the recommended vaccines, tests, and meds that I needed. However, after dealing with an ignorant doctor who would yell at her staff and spend under 5 minutes with each patient while being seriously passive aggressive- I knew I needed a change. This doctor was a md, but also a naturopathic doctor. She would make you but tests for thousands of dollars when easily she could’ve given me tests covered by insurance. She also refused to give me any more tests as “they aren’t covered by insurance” when I asked for a basic panel. She rarely took blood pressure readings, had no thermometers of strep tests/uti tests on site, and the office was located in a basement/house. As someone who takes mental health very seriously- I realized that I wasn’t being treated for anything- in fact mistreated.

Anyways, awhile ago I went to my first appointment with a normal primary care doctor, and found out some interesting things. First off- despite what my psych said, he doesn’t believe that I have anxiety, depression, and ocd. Sounds crazy, right? He said that I have PTSD, and that these symptoms are manifesting as a result of that. While I do trust doctors- I feel as if my current psych isn’t working for me either, as she wanted me to take lithium because of my mood swings when I don’t have bipolar disorder. Lithium is a very serious drug that has a lot of pros but also cons, and my decision making process hasn’t been easy.

While being on the 30 mg of Prozac, my life has shifted for the worst. I have extreme anxiety over food, negative thoughts, etc. Back to the primary doctor, and he wants to give me a mood stabilizers (lamictal) and medical marijuana. I believe that I’m going forward with the medical marijuana- however the mood stabilizer also has horrific side effects that I’m peeved about.

So I’m at a crossroads.

Thank you for reading my update, and if you have any advice I’d gladly accept it.

With Love ❤️
