I picked up the prescription for 10mg...I am nervous to take it. I was wondering if everyone got sleepy, gained wieght, and lost tier sex drive. If you did get these symtoms did they go away? I have hashimotos and rheaumatoid arthitis and I am scared to take anything to add to my fatique. Thankyou =)

Hi tresa56, of course we are all different as to how our body metabolizes

our meds. Personally I have not found any problems with Lexapro. After having

gotten off years of benzos and switched to Lexapro, it's been heaven sent. No more

tiredness. It opened up a new world for me.

I started with 10mg also. We are here to help you through your new journey.

This may be just what you need. :) xx

thankyou =) I just see so many stories online about tiredness...that is great that you did not get any of the side effects.

My belief tresa56 is that we are what we think or hear per se.

Trust in your doctor who knows your health history. I'm sure they have

taken in any health issues you have before prescribing Lexapro.

Take it with a positive attitude but give it time. It's not a magic pill but

one that slowly reaches full efficacy within 4-6 weeks. People around you

will notice the difference probably before you do.

Unless we open a new door that we have been given the key to, we will

never know what is on the other side. Wishing you well Keep us updated :) xx

I still am very cautious as to what I take. I'm on several medications

right now for different issues and had I not tried them, I probably would

not be here. There comes a time that we have to clean out all the filled

medicine bottles that we were too afraid to try. Once I did that, life became

good for me. :) xx

Hi I used this medication for months, side effects were the opposite of what you mentioned...in the early days of use I had insomnia, for which I discontinued the med several times. Then I noticed weight loss and decreased appetitie which was really great for me.

The worst part was the withdrawal which gave me PMS-like symptoms.

Certainly everyone is different and the side effect profile is unique to every person.

I just started lexapro (again) about 2 weeks ago. 20mg split morning and night for panic disorder. I was on lexapro for years, years ago. It’s the only ssri I have found to work, but I do experience side effects and once I’m feeling stable always want to try something new. This time I won’t do that. I do experience a loss of sex drive, but I experience that with high anxiety as well. I have had some insomnia, which leads to daytime sleepiness, again I’ll take that over anxiety and cravings for sweets and beer (which is bizarre because I don’t drink at all) and a slight headache that easily is resolved with 1 Tylenol. Other than that lexapro has been my go to. I have a huge fear of new medicines as well. I make my husband check on me every 30 minutes after I take it lol. He’s a saint.

I have been taking lexapro for about 2 years now. I take 20 mg and have had no side effects whatsoever. I tried several different antidepressants after my Zoloft finally wore out on me after several years and lexapro finally worked. Of course different anti depressants work differently on individuals.

I am on medication that has eliminated my sex drive. As a man I have been very frustrated but I know if I didn't take the medication my sex drive would likely return but at what cost. Struggle with this all the time

maybe you can try something else?

I am going back to see the doctor at the end of the month and hopefully come off medication that effects my sex drive. I have been doing better with mental health issues and feel I am in a good place to reduce medication

tresa56, I'm happy to hear that you will give it a try. That's a good idea in starting

it when you have a few days off in a row. My suggestion that I've always used when

trying a new medication is to let someone know that you will be taking it. Write

down the date, time and dosage. After you do that, go on with your day.

When I first started, I was told to take it at lunchtime. I've kept that schedule

now and it has worked well for me. Wishing you well on just what may be a

new beginning for you. :) xx
