Chest Pain - Anxiety symptom?

Ok so, my chest pains are absolutely annoying and they have me so scared. I spoke to my cousin because she’s a doctor and she said I should not be worried about it. My anxiety has literally changed my whole life around.

It’s scary because I always think the worst of my chest pains, “is it really my anxiety??” I’ve gotten checked out by the doctor about a month or more ago because I had some pain in my left upper chest and he did and ECG and blood test, he told me I was fine. But now I’m still worried. I’ve never had any serious sickness or issues with my health AT ALL. My heart was always healthy along with all my other organs.

I’ve always been really healthy. It’s hard to think that it’s some health problem.

I just want to be over all this.

Maybe I should go back to my doctor ? But I don’t want to continuously have to spend money.

I hate bothering people, I don’t want to be “the boy who cried wolf.”

ReeDiana, your cousin is right you shouldn’t worry, it is anxiety. I had similar experiences, especially today my heart even skipped a beat and I started to panic but I know it is anxiety or side effects from my meds.

Do you see a professional for your anxiety? If not maybe you should try to see a therapist. He/she could help you with anxiety management. You are probably so tense that all your muscles are contracted which can also cause chest pain. Try mindfulness and scan your body for tension then do some slow and deep breathing.

Good luck!

Hi ! I totally know how you feel !

I have had chest pain for about 11 years and I still think I am having a heart attack every time it happens .

Medication , good sleep , A therapist , exercise , meditation and finding things that bring you joy should help with anxiety .

I wish I could tell you I don’t worry when I have chest pain but I can’t !

Hang in there ! ❤️

Hello ReeDiana. I’m so sorry you’re experiencing these anxiety symptoms. Out of all of the symptoms I’ve experienced, I have to say chest pain is the worst. For me, I went 6 months going to ER’s and urgent cares monthly at the minimum. I spent so much money its ridiculous. It was only a month ago when I realized that my issue is always my heart and since the ER can only rule out emergent situations, I made an appointment with a cardiologist who can has done extensive studying on the heart and who could rule out more heart issues. He did a heart monitor and a stress test on me. The results? I have a healthy heart praise God.

If I were you, I’d go ahead and book an appointment with a cardiologist. Your PCP/GP is a general doctor who isn’t going to be able to do extensive testing on some organs. Might as well not risk wasting thousands at an ER and go straight to the person who can do a thorough workup and let you know if anything is wrong with your heart. If your tests come back fine, take that as confirmation that you’re ok and accept the chest

pain as your anxiety. That’s truly the best and least expensive option that can rule out any heart issues and leave you with some peace.

This is definitely true. But the money I’ll have to pay will definitely be ridiculous. I am answering you now because I woke up anxious. Sigh!

I too have been experiencing chest pain/ shortness of breath sometimes, dizziness. It’s scary and ruining my life. I’ve had ekgs and echo everything is normal. I don’t want to go to the hospital because it’s embarrassing for me when I come back home and nothing is physically wrong with me. My family doesn't understand what I’m going through which adds to my guilt and embarrassment. Just try to keep yourself busy. And if you are having chest pains for days it’s is most likely NOT heart related more likely muscle/ skeletal. Good luck.

I completely get you and I feel the same way. It’s also expensive with constant doctor visits can be expensive and tiring and also add to the anxiety. I’ve been experiencing dizziness that comes and goes as well lately. However, I do have an increased heart rate. Which had been due to my anxiety. I’m totally over it
