Chest pain
Hi Honeycazz, If you have had an ECG and ECHO and they are normal, you can pretty much conclude that your heart is okay. It sounds like it's coming from the chest wall muscle. Stress seems to make our upper chest and back muscles extremely tight so that it can give us distress. The pain can be interrupted different ways. Usually heat as well as relaxation and deep breathing help calm the muscle tension down. I'm sorry you are struggling with this. Because we associate pain anywhere in the chest as being heart related, it is scary. You did good by seeing a doctor and getting tests done. Take care. x
Hello. From time to time I get sharp pains out of nowhere like a stabbing. It's all part of anxiety.
Any chest pain obviously needs to be investigated by a doctor but if you suffer anxiety then normally the equation is Chest pain = anxiety= chest pain, it's a common anxiety symptom.
The rule the doctor told me is that if you can put your finger on a specific chest pain, it's not your heart,
It will pass. I still get them but I know what they are so the pain eventually dissipates.
All the best.
I get chest, neck and back pain, it ranges from a sharp sudden pain under my left breast which takes my breath away or can be a heavy hot feeling on the middle/top of my chest or pressure/ tightening around my chest where your bra sits, I've had loads of tests and it is my back muscles as your muscles and nerves feed around to your chest. Also my arms especially my left arm goes numb, tingly, pins and needles all the way to my hand, top of my arm feels like I have a blood pressure machine on .
Hello, my pain is like a pressure in the middle of my chest. At least you had those tests done so that should relieve a little bit. I've noticed practice deep breathing just Google breathing techniques. Also, I do take Adivan when I feel my anxiety which is everyday. My Dr has me on 3 a day and it has helped. My HusbAnd passed away October and my anxiety is super high. He always tried to help me with it. He taught me to be strong, so that's what I'm trying to do. I miss him so very much he was my rock my safe place. So try those breathing techniques and if they don't work maybe talk to your Dr about these anxiety attacks maybe he will put you on something to calm you. Good Luck hope all goes well😊
That's Like me, my Husband passed away 8 years ago, and now I have to handle lifes problems that we used to share, alone, he was also my rock, I just need him to hold me and tell me everything will be fine soooo much stress so much pain. I'm 67, still looking for the Golden years we hear so much about, lol, Growing old with out your mate sucks Now lets all try to SMILE and get on with our wonderful Day
There are 61 listed causes for chest pain and only 6 related to the heart.Anxiety causes any muscle group to tighten through tension. The body becomes tense to try and protect itself from an assumed danger.Try holding your hand into a fist and squeeze it as tight as you can for as long as you can without feeling tension and pain.
Now imagine that the structure of the chest contains many muscles which too can
Become tense with anxiety fuelled with adrenaline/noradrenaline and you will get chest discomfort nausea pain. The intercostal muscles between each rib can tighten and make it difficult to take a deep breath....the swallowing tube is another long series of muscular tubes which can tighten and create nausea and discomfort and mimic heart pain..the diaphragm is a large sheet of muscle that gets tense and prevents one from taking a deep breath ..with so one adjusts by taking shallow and frequent gasps of air and presto ...your begin to over breathe which fuels further symptoms and anxiety.
Once you have been given a once over by a health professional that rules out a physical underlying cause you have to accept that the pains you are experiencing are probably due to an excess of anxiety.I went through 20 or 30 admission on cardiac wards 30 years ago and finally and an angiogram to rule out any heart problems.
Guess what.. I still get chest pain but only when I am tense, if I walk excercises do press ups they just disappear so from one to another...learn to relax!
jomico, I totally agree with you regarding muscle tenseness. Once we realize that everything we feel is not coming from the heart, it becomes easier to relax. (once you have seen your doctor) Knowing what causes our physical symptoms makes it so much easier to understand and reverse it.
I get chest painst at times and at time feel a warm sensation. Also get a dull pain that comes and goes. It's happens on my upper chest. Also feels like it's on the skin and not deep in the chest. Also a stabbing and some pressure. Tingling at times too.
