Does anybody else suffer from Insomnia caused by their anxiety??

Like they spend all night lying in bed thinking of everything they've gone through the day, all the goods bits but mainly the unsure bits...the worries, worrying about things that have happened...worried about the future...worried about what will happen the next day??

I've tried over-the-counter medication, i've tried herbal remedies, i've tried extra exercise and keeping myself busy to make myself tired and able to sleep, calming music, hypnotherapy tapes, home remedies but nothing has worked....what would be the next step? I've had insomnia for as long as I can remember to the point it gets to 7.30 in the morning before my body even feels ready to sleep but then I have to be up for work at that time meaning I get no sleep...I'm debating going to the GP to see what they can prescribe but is that the best option?

I have sleep problems when I start thinking of negative things that happened during the day. My problem if I cannot control that is it will still be there the next day

Generally I try diversions before bed like hobbies that I enjoy. Coming on sites can also help when I can read of other contributors problems. Some times it is enough to make me eventually consider sometimes my problems are small. Given that and being able to compartmentalize my thoughts aaaand deal what is going on in my life.

Try not to eat to late before bed, digestion can assist in keeping us awake

You could also try Mindfulness before sleep to relax your mood, and thoughts Books can be purchased on Amazon for about £7.00 stg

Hi,

Thank you so much for your reply to the post, I will admit I do sometimes eat a bit late at night so I am trying to cut down on that and changing my diet so that I have less junk food throughout the day, I try games and things before bed like you said, to distract myself and am taking up reading again as a chilled out past time.

I will checkout the thing from Amazon, thank you for the recommendation, I hope you manage to get well deserved rest, like you say it does help being on foruma like this and realising that we are not alone with what we go through

Kind Regards
