What is the reason you cannot sleep more than 4 hours? xx

If you want to say why you cannot rest you can say, but you don't need to if you would prefer not to. xx

If I have things on my mind I can’t seem to turn off. I try to read before I go to bed and not drink coffee. I do cope next day but feel a bit rough

Hi i know exactly what your asking as i often wonder myself i sleep roughly about 6 to 8 hours a week and often wonder what it does to my mental health being along with anything else , Insomnia is a real hell of a place to be i also suffer with RLS (restless leg syndrome) should be renamed Restless Muscle Syndrome as it affect the whole body . I've tried all sort for Insomnia taking hot baths adding whatever i can find to the bath water even tried weed hmm that works wonders on RLS and knocked me out but not good when your on meds lol . Wish i coud help you with a good answer hopefully someone might have one but im guessing like RLS everyone is different what workks for one doesn't for another :( , hope you get some sleep soon , Ive not had any for 72hrs now :/ going try again in a bit fingers cross .

I've had rls for 20 years, usually salty and acidic foods make it worse. I dont drink caffeine at all anymore either not even green tea. I've found that not eating 3hrs before bed. Then i drink high quality ultra muscle ease (magnesium powder) and it knocks me out. The benefit is you also have detailed vivid dreams due to getting rem sleep.

Hi I've tried everything over the years i started with RLS when i was about 8yrs old runs in the family im now 57yrs old of course didn't drink coffee till i was about 16 don't like tea or anything else always try to have my tea between 4pm and 5pm tried Magnesium powder and tablet form years ago , Im on gabapentin only thing that worked on thank gawd was my neuroalgia i get both sides of my face does nothing to help insomnia or rls been on every meds going for rls either makes it 100% worst or stops me sleeping , Maybe Maisie1 would benefit going to sleep clinic and see exactly whats what sleep wise not sure if insomnia comes under seeing a neuro dr there's got to be help somewhere but defo going to sleep clinic at least then she'd find out sleep she's having could be worth asking her GP .

I have had insomnia for over 20 years. I have MS and restless legs also and take Ropinerol at supper and bedtime. Also at bedtime I take unisom (doxalamine), 300 mg of gabapentin, 5 mg. melatonin, and 1/2 of a .5 mg Zanax. It works for me and gives me a good 7 - 8 hours of sleep a night. I realize that several of these are Rx, but you can ask your MD and see if they will give you something to help your insomnia. I have had sleep studies and have no clear reason for my insomnia, unless it is caused by MS.

Hello Maisie1..... one of the ways you can restore natural sleep is to take a melatonin supplement. The body usually makes this in the gut and releases it at night. If you have any digestive issues this can get out of whack.Uk seems to have outlawed Melatonin because of EU rulings yet walk into any french supermarket and its readily available ...the generic is called 5HTP and will boost the brain waves responsible for all the sleep cycles. Can be bought from Amazon/Ebay.

Chamomile, Valerian teas can help.

Also try using Magnesium Threonate...out of the entire variant of this wonderful mineral.....threonate is the best for helping your mind and body relax towards evening times.Very safe and gentle on people highly stressed or anxious. It is the most easily absorbed by the body and will not cause toilet upsets.

The usual methods , low lights, warm baths, quietness, are not always easy to achieve if you have upheavals going on around you...hope you stay clear of sleeping prescriptions which should only be used short term.

Magnesium will certainly help with RLS....as welll as just about every system in the body because it is the natural helper to 700 enzymes makers in your body, cures muscle twitches aches and pains.Natural opposite to Calcium which makes muscles tense and cramp.

If you have time visit the following link and listen to one or two of this Doctors podcasts......there is a wealth of information on how you can help your body....everything will start to make sense!....
