Gabapentin For Anxiety

Is anyone taking gabapentin for anxiety. If so, how much are you taking and does it help your anxiety. I was prescribed this to help me get off of Ativan, 300 mg three times a day. I have only been taking it about five days. Had a lot of dizziness for the first few days and I am always hungry and have gained a few pounds. I am really hopeful that it works for my anxiety and I can stop taking Ativan. Ativan works great for me but my new health care provider does not want me taking it.

Hey! Yes I just started, was prescribed by a neurologist because I was not sleeping and getting the weirdest/scariest feelings. It helps cause drowsiness but I’m super anxious so I still get attacks as I’m falling asleep ☹️

I’m on it, taken 800 mg it’s a low dose for my fibromyalgia and I have anxiety. So far I can fall asleep fast on it but don’t stay asleep and I have found my own way of coping with my anxiety. I don’t think it helps much for it. I been taking Gabapentin for over a year now.

I personally don't think it should be used for anxiety or tapering off ativan. Afterall, it started off as an anti epilepsy drug and then someone decided to prescribe it for nerve pain. It is highly addictive and even if you manage to get off that poison ativan (I am in the same boat), you will then have to taper off gabapentin. Has your GP or whoever prescribed this not heard of the Ashton Manual, this is used worldwide benzo.org.uk/manual/bzcha02...

. Ativan as you probably know has a very short half life and so valium/diazepam which has a long half life is used in conjunction with ativan.
