Meleina, you are in the safest place to be. They will do what is necessary to

find the cause of your shortness of breath by eliminating any health issues.

We can't worry about the outcome down the road. Right now in this present

moment, this is what needs to be addressed. It's okay to cry, it will release

your pent up emotions and fear. Let us know the outcome of your scan.

We are right here, only a message away. You are not alone. It's going to be okay xx

Iv been to the E.R about a million times in the past...4 ct scans is alot , if your worried about cancer you might wanna make this the last ct scan and keep your trust in your results. .radiation from these scans can cause some issues in the future ..but do what you gotta do to get reassurance , I myself have been this way in the beginning with my anxiety and honestly feel where your coming from but dont worry so much ..keep ya head up

Itā€™s perfectly fine to cry. Itā€™s okay to let it out. You will be okay. Donā€™t think about the future, just think about right now!

Okay so 2 years ago I got sick. I had a fever, shortness of breath, some coughing, it was some sort of upper respiratory infection. Anyways, after a few days I was so short of breath I couldnā€™t walk more then 5-6 steps without stopping. My doctor sent me to the ER to get checked out. My d-dimer came back elevated. They thought I might have a PE. I cannot do a CT scan because Iā€™m allergic to the iodine so I refused that. Instead they did a VQ scan. The scan came back negative for blood clots in my lungs and I was discharged. The doctor said that sometimes your d-dimer will come back elevated when youā€™re fighting a virus. So donā€™t be too worried, you will be okay! šŸ’œ Also, ask your doctor if they can do a VQ scan. Thereā€™s no radiation from it.

Destiny I had a d-dimer test myself and doctors usually use this as a first step before actually doing xrays or ct scans, but a high d-dimer doesnt mean you have a clot but it does represent clots flowing through your body , so if you get injured and cut or wounded , clots are normal to heal your wound now after your wound has been healed these clots can brake up and travel through your body and get stuck . Ways to prevent clots in general is to stay active, move around sometimes sitting and laying for long periods of time can cause a clot..that's why after surgery the doctors advice to rest but slowly start walking around a little, as during a surgery they will place a tight socks to prevent clots post surgery ....ok I'm not a doctor but iv had surgeries and learned alot through my doctors ...

Hey Meleina! I know this is a bit late of a response but donā€™t be too worried about being exposed to radiation with the scan. There is still a good deal of controversy around whether or not the radiation does cause an increase in your chances of getting cancer. From what Iā€™ve read, it increases your chances of getting cancer by like .05%/ scan. I wouldnā€™t be too worried
