Health anixety

Hi all,

Just a bit of background. Ive been suffering health anixety for about 2.5 years. I believe the trigger came about 6 months after my mum was diagnosed with cancer and was going in for an operation. The very same week i had symptoms that i thought was a urine infection. I was given antibiotics just after a phone consultation. I can see now this probably threw my digestive system out and then my anixety helped it continue.

Anyway long story short i eventually had a colonoscopy july 2019 which was clear and my symptoms has pretty much disappeared. Now my worry is my son.

He has a little bump behind his ear but on his head. He has had it since a few weeks old but last week i watch a programme on tv and a baby had swollen lymph nodes there, so thats set me off thinking he has cancer.

So he has been yawning alot the last few days, had constipation and been moaning alot (he isnt a moany baby).

Tbh the rational side of me says well if he has constipation you would be moaning too! But then I feel myself going down the rabbit hole.

Just posting to get off my chest really as dont feel able to speak to anyone in real life.

Health anxiety is the worst:(

All my kids have had their nodes on their necks swollen at one pain or another and it’s been when they have had a cold or not well. If you’re worried just pop into Gp and see what they have to say :)

Im seeing the health visitor next tuesday so will ask then. Im pretty sure its been there since he was a few weeks old, maybe even from birth. Its just typical that all these other things like him being tired and winging happens now too x

Ok so normal for bubbas to go through stages like that. It’s so hard because they can’t tell you what’s wrong or what hurts etc

Hi @missED health anxiety is awful ain’t it.. can I ask how is your mum now? Mine was triggered 21 years ago when my grandpa died then escalated 12 years ago when i sadly lost my mum to cancer.. so mines spiralled out of control since then... my therapist told me h/a is also a form of OCD because we dwell and obsess over the slightest pain or lump but being a mum I find any mum worry’s over anything anyway cuz it’s your baby wow when I had my daughter if she coughed she was in a+e .... with you having health anxiety you will panic more but if your scared or worried about anything to do with your son just get him checked most kiddies have them my husband has very large ones behind his ears I sincerely don’t think you have anything to worry about but just get him checked out for piece of mind if anything

I’m unhappy at the minute with my anxiety but remember you are not alone you will get past it we all will

Here for your support. I wish I could post pics in the comments. My son (was 2 at the time) had a lymph on the back of his neck the size of a GRAPE. It was so horrifying so I really understand your pain! We got it taken out. All was fine. I know it's easy to go to the bad thoughts. Be strong.

I also have heath anxiety and just wanted to let you know you're not alone. If you ever need anything I am a message away.

Really struggling this morning. My son is yawning so much and im convinced that means he is tired, even though he slept really well so must have cancer.
