Everytime I feel like I am about to sleep I feel like my heart wakes me up. I feel like I start breathing really slow and wake up scared. I feel like I will stop breathing if I fall asleep. Right now it feels like there is pressure in my chest. This has happened for a week now, but some days I am able to sleep it off. I still wake up with that's feeling but at least I am able to sleep. My throat also feels like it's closing. I think this is also contributing to my anxiety I get through out the day. I am scared to fall asleep. If only the feeling of having someone sitting on top of my chest can disappear, I would be able to sleep.

It is not possible for your heart to stop when asleep unless you have a very serious heart condition. It is an automatic function and your brain will wake your body up if there is any problem. For example in sleep apnea there can be gaps where not enough oxygen is going down into the lungs so sufferers wake up all through the night so they can breathe better. Relax and go to sleep. x
Have you tried breathing exercises. Inhale 5 secs and exhale. Also wite down you thoughts take 30 min break before you sleep in bed to do so.
Have you tried reading before going to sleep. Sometimes I drop off to sleep while reading. You need a distraction to take your mind off actually talking asleep.
