Hi, iv been on citalopram since july started on 10mg and have been on 20mg for 4 weeks. Iv got so much tension in my neck/head and feel abit light headed alot or like my head is a cloud if that makes sense. I'm also tired alot and feel like my eyes feel spacey or blurry/unfocused. Will this pass ? Is it normal ? I'm starting to freak myself out thinking theres something else wrong! I have had more better days since upping the dose but these feelings I'm having are freaking me out. Xx

Have you discussed these side effects with your doctor? It took me a couple of months to get past those SSRI reactions (if that’s what they are). And when the dosage was increased so did the reactions. But, like I said, mine went away. It was a good sign for me when I began to have “good days,” as we had tried many different meds before finding something that worked. Don’t know if this helps. Hang in there. Lynne
Hi, thanks so much for replying. I seen my doctor Friday and i have had better days I go into town and have had a busy few weekends which iv managed to cope with 'normally' I told him about the tension. He checked and got me to move it around and everything felt normal he said it probably is just tension. It's been constant since I seen him so maybe its becase I'm stressing about it. Iv booked in for a massage tomorrow to see if that helps any. I have noticed iv been clenching my jaw alot which obviously wont help either. Iv been battling this since christmas 2017 and was totally against taking anything but it got to the point where I needed to try it. Xxx
I can relate. My diagnosis is relatively new. I’ve had mild clinical depression my entire life (you can see it in my eyes in baby pictures). But it was managed with a low dose of antidepressant for 30 years. I suffered a number of heavy traumatic losses around 2013-15. The meds stopped working and I sought help around 2017, as well, and was diagnosed with a Major Depression and Anxiety Disorder. Had a breakdown that was terrible, but finally found meds which work. I don’t like taking anything, as I would rather control myself by myself. That didn’t work for me. All the self help practices I had ever learned couldn’t get me to an even playing field. So I follow the directions of my therapist and psychiatrist. What a surprise, it’s working. I think it’s great you’re able to have “busy weekends.” I’m just recently getting back into normal (for me) social commitments. Nice sharing with you. PM me anytime. Lynne
I was on 40 mg for about a year and had to stop due to my insurance not paying was off of it for about 8 months and just started back up on 20 mg soon to be back to 40.. it does make you feel dizzy and comes with some muscle aches and headaches but it goes away after a bit i started taking mine at night because i was just to sleepy during the day.. hang in there its worth it after your body adjusts.
Thank you for replying :). It was starting to panic me and I was up last night with it and just totally stressing. Iv been to my therapy session today and had a thai massage and she said how tight my muscles are so I'm going to try and see her every few weeks to keep on top of that and my medication should be all settled by then 🤞 xxx
