Hi Rascal123, the worrying is causing that feeling of a lump more than the

chance that there is a physical cause. The fact that you say you have a lot

of anxiety symptoms, makes me think that you are forever in a state of worry

and fear. Your digestive tract is affected by that. We cannot digest our food

properly when the intestines are literally tied in knots. I know the feeling of

what you are experiencing. I have had it on a number of occasions. It usually

happens when we are not sitting in a relaxed position, are stressed to the max

while we are eating and tend to not chew our food enough. With all that going

on, we are swallowing air with each bite forming this "rock" that you feel.

Sometimes, sipping on a little ginger ale while you are eating can help dispel

the gas bubbles that may form. Of course, I can only go by my own experiences

and it is always best you see your doctor if this continues. Just remember that

being anxious can bring about a physical symptom that is made worse when our

mind starts feeding us lies. I hope you feel better soon. Sometimes knowing what's

behind our symptoms helps reduce them. :) xx

Hi Agora, it was nice to here your response thank you. My anxiety is a fear of cancer, every little thing that I feel in my body my mind convinces me its serious. I thought my anxiety had passed last week but the stomach symptom wont go away iv had it for 6 days now. I envy people who don't have anxiety I wish I could have a holiday from my brain!.x

I understand Rascal. Eventually, you will get that holiday from your brain but only after you can completely accept the symptoms as being from anxiety. Anxiety has

a way of going from one symptom to another, keeping us guessing and in a state of

worry all the time. Only you know your body and what may be a different symptom

than usual. The fact that this symptom has gone on for 6 days now doesn't mean it

is something catastrophic. However, emotionally it is tearing you down and you need

some reassurance from a professional, your doctor. Set up an appointment to see him or at least give him a call describing your symptoms and let him be the judge of

what to do. After all he does know you health history. We are always here for you to

support and listen because we care. :) xx

I've had issues with my stomach, turns out I had stomach inflammation. As told by my doctor to take Philosec 40mg before my first meal, takes about 4 days to kick in seems to be helping.

Please try not to worry about this. I am going through the most awful anxiety, possibly due to hashimotos and hyperparathryoidism and my diaphragm is so tied up in knots, I can barely eat anything. The muscles are so tight that they actually seem to tie up with my back muscles too. I got so desperate I resorted to taking some lorazepam which did ease that situation but now even worse gettting addicted, dont go there please.

Hi elaine I am so sorry to hear what your going through, your body and mind seem to be in pain and you were kind enough to talk to me it shows what a strong person you are. Be good to yourself you deserve it.xx

This particular symptom seems to be very common with anxiety, I've suffered with it also. Try to eat better foods, also maybe less more frequently might help, eating less at a meal might help. Sometimes I'll burp and find that the "distension" will go away. Agora1 is correct, swallowing air while we eat while anxious will cause these symptoms.
