Post Surgery Sepsis

Hi, just had surgery for a hernia removal. It went ok but I wondered what the chances of getting post surgery sepsis is? The wound is covered up ok but they did put an artificial mesh in me? It’s starting to bleed a little bit too .

When will that dressing get changed? That is bleeding up through the gauze. It was a day procedure? Are you at home?

My husband had a hernia repair many years ago. He has been fine.

Hi, they didn’t say anything about changing the dressing but have given me some spare ones when this one “comes off” it’s only a spot of blood so I hope it’s nothing too serious.. I stayed overnight in hospital and had it done under general but I’m home now.I want to avoid sepsis

Ok I would think the dressing should be changed daily? When are you allowed to shower?

Check with the surgeon on that.

The sepsis you talk about? You are talking about the mesh being in your body?

For wound problems they should have given you instructions? Redness, fever things like that?

Call your md if you are worried about the wound. When you go for your check up you can ask about the mesh. I just don't think there's a way to predict the outcome of that. Im not a dr so I couldn't say.
