Cbd oil with Benzos?

Hi ! I take Clonazepam as needed up to 1mg a day if I really need it , i usually take it everyday two days or 3, I have extremely bad anxiety and the depression comes and goes, another doctor at my urgent care today told me I should stop the Clonazepam as it’s so dangerous and she hates to hear stories of people getting prescribed them, and start an antidepressant such as sertraline 50mg to start then gradually inscrease to 100mg everyday. I have been trying to avoid antidepressants, I am curious if anyone has tried CBD oil while trying to stop the Clonazepam or any other Benzo all together!?! Let me know please thank you!

I tried CBD capsules which helped with anxiety but the good stuff is expensive. It also helps you sleep.

It's understandable, especially these days with the opioid drugs, that a doctor would frown on benzo drugs. They can be horrible and addictive, but they also work and help. I actually was started on antidepressants and never received any relief from anxiety until I was prescribed Xanax (I did have periods of tranquility or where exercise seemed to have me on my way). But when stress came back, I had found a new doctor who put me on an antidepressant and Xanax. Now that people know more about these drugs, it's generally advised to be used for maybe 3 weeks if daily....or on as needed emergency basis. This doctor is right that benzos are a very hazardous path (addiction and dependency wise), but they're not seeing the bigger picture that this is what works for you. Responsible usage and all. If you aren't using it daily and having to have dosage increases, you're likely fine. Most doctors would like you on an antidepressant and then peeling the bandage of a benzo away as the antidepressant takes over. Their fear with a benzo is you'll use it daily, get used to the dose level, and need a higher dose to achieve the same relief...a habit that just gets worse.

As for CBD oil, I have not gotten many solid answers. One of the few things I have read is that CBD should be treated similarly to grapefruit. A lot of medications advise caution of drinking or eating grapefruit due to liver enzymes and metabolization. Grapefruit inhibits the liver enzyme that many medications use to metabolize....this means if you drank or ate grapefruit, a larger amount of the medication is available causing possible toxicity because the enzyme isn't available. So, back to the point, I've read that CBD oil works on the same enzyme and to be cautious of medications that forewarn about grapefruits. I asked my doctor if he could confirm this, but unfortunately as CBD was still illegal in my state, he couldn't necessarily confirm or deny this. With klonopin, this would be an issue. I'm not a pharmacist or doctor, so I would recommend calling around to ask about this and if it's something you need to watch. It could be BS, but I don't think a pro-CBD oil dealer would give me information that would impact me buying their products. I would talk with your doctor about subbing out CBD oil for your benzo for the sake of seeing if you need to taper down and off of it. CBD oil is not a substitute for a benzo, so it will need to be slowly discontinued if your doctor feels you'll withdrawal from klonopin. I've read a lot of good things about CBD oil for anxiety, so it's worth checking if you want a more natural approach. All of this is just opinion, things I've read, and so on...no substitute for actual professionals and their advice.
