Yes it is completely normal to experience anxiety after birth. Your hormones are going crazy, Your sleep deprived and have a newborn. It’s worse for people who have had anxiety previously. It does get easier, make sure you have some support from friends and family and going to the doctor really helps. I know what your going through I had my second baby 6 weeks ago. Exercise and planning your days really helps.
Yesss my daughter is 20 months and it’s worse ! I have gotten a tiny bit better but I feel like I need to start meds now I’m just scared of the side effects
Me too! My daughter is only 7 weeks but these past 7 weeks have been absolute hell! Im scared of the side effects too! i was given propanalol but these don't seem to work, how do you cope with it if you dont mind me asking? Is there anything you do to stop the attacks or even calm down?
I agree with sweetpea446 you are likely to be having hormone imbalance! Try to get your hormone levels tested soon as you can! Make sure also your getting proper nutrients, vitamins, good healthy fats and all also support from friends/family maybe could help!☺️🌻wish best to you!!
Yes! The first three months after I gave birth were a nightmare. I wasn't coping but so thankful my mum came and stayed with us for most of that time and helped with night feeds so I could get some sleep (sleep deprivation made my anxiety a whole lot worse, I thought i was dying all the time!). My husband and I had some fairly major marriage issues to deal with at the same time so that had a big impact on my health also. When baby started sleeping through the night at 3 months (Thank you God!), the anxiety slowly started to subside, but it wasn't until she was about 8 months old that I started to enjoy her and 'felt' like I loved her 😢. She is 12 months now and I still get anxiety symptoms but nothing like it was. I've been on sertraline for years, but after giving birth I was also put on olanzapine, not sure if it helped much. Eventually I weaned myself off it. I'm still on sertraline, but I'm ok with it. All the best, anxiety is crippling, both mentally and physically, but it will get better. Xo
Im sorry you felt like that! I feel exactly the same its so so horrible! Ive been to the ER numerous times convinced i was dying! I also feel like sleep deprivation is my biggest problem, i am on propanalol but these don't help me that much, i don't want to get hooked on meds but also don't want to feel like this any longer its a vicious cycle! Thank you i feel a bit better knowing I'm not the only one who had experienced this x
Yep, done the ER thing many times too! You definitely aren't on your own, it helps me a lot too knowing others have experienced similar and survived! I'm still a bit scared about getting pregnant again though...
