Waking up every hour and insomnia.

Wondering if anyone else has this issue. Seeking reassurance here, LOL. Lately I have been going to sleep around 10-11 and waking up every hour. Once I’ve done this two or three times, I wake up for a few hours then go back to sleep. I don’t know if that makes sense, so I’ll give you an example from last night:

1130 - go to sleep

130am - wake up to move my head to the other side

230am - wake up again, only this time I stay awake.

645am - finally go back to sleep

730am - wake up to move my head

9am - wake up to move my head (LOL)

1030am - wake up for good

Is this dangerous? I feel like it is and I feel like I’ve done every thing by the book. I keep all electronics out of the bedroom. The bedroom stays nice and cool and I’m actually very comfortable in bed. I don’t watch TV or scroll my phone before bed. I’ve made it a point to make my bedroom where I sleep and that’s it.

Lately, I’ve been having a lot of health anxiety because of feeling like I’m on a boat pretty much all day (see my first post in this forum). It’s been going on for two weeks today, and I think I’m subconsciously worrying myself to death over it, thus creating a bad sleep experience.

Does anyone else go through this? And no, I will not take medication for this.

Hi there I can relate with the waking up every hour and some times my insomnia really can be a problem but I find my gp is not as helpful as I would like! But in saying that there are some really helpful so first port of call is see if your doctor can help you! There are many herbal supplements available but they may be differently available were you are! Plus if you drive tell your doctor as it may affect what he can give you! All the best I hope things get better for you! 🙏

Anxiety will definitely do that.

You should try progressive muscle relaxation — I SWEAR by it. Do it before bed and you’ll start to sleep like a baby after practicing for a few days. I went from waking up 8x to maybe 1x

It’s on the Pacifica app under ‘Relax Your Muscles’, and it’s free!!

Alot to read, I have insomnia sometimes I don't go to sleep till the next day around 9 am this is 2 days in a row. On the 3rd day I'll finally go to sleep. This drives me Crazy. I get nauseous from the lack if sleep and feel frustrated n angry. My doctor gave me Medication that's suppose to help with sleep, nothing works.

I also "did everything by the book" and it didn't work so I actually went kind of the opposite way and have white noise every night. Most of the time the TV is on. I don't like the light that the TV emits though in a dark room so I also have my nightstand lamp on every night. If I still have a hard time sleeping I put youtube on the screen and play soothing music or a relaxation video of some sort. It works for me! You are 100% correct to not want sleeping medication. I know 2 people who are addicted now and can't sleep without it. In both their cases it's Ambien, a controlled substance that doctors usually don't prescribe on a long term basis but they can't sleep without it now.
