Scared to forget myself..

I've really foggy a lot and I feel out of it, I don't feel like myself, it happens almost daily.....is this anxiety or depersonalization or both?

I know from my experience, it started with insomnia, then anxiety, then depression.

The depression just made me feel hopeless, but the anxiety just makes me feel scared to even go to work or do anything out of my comfort zone.

I joined a local support group and researched everything I could.

There is a way out of this, unfortunately it’s going to take some time and work, but I truly believe there is light.

Thank you

It sounds like depersonilization. though you only gave a short description there are very few words or phrases that can describe it but it does fit perfectly with what i have felt for months and what many people in multiple support groups have told me it feels like. There are a few ways you can get dp dr (depersonilization derealization)

one is chronic anxiety (anxiety that persists over a long time)

Psycotic disorders can bring on a slightly more intense and trippy version where you literally see yourself from outside you body like a bird

Bipolar disorder can also bring it on

it is most likely anxiety from the number of people who i have seen it in including myself actually. I experienced insomnia then intense anxiety to ease it and then the anxiety was gone and was left with this indescribable feeling. with the lack of support at the time i had no clue what was going on and dp dr turned my life upside down until i started learning about it. Theres a few things that might help though.

one is to try and move on from it by not thinking about it which is i know easier said than done

two is for most people this goes away naturaly so dont even worry

three is grounding which is using your senses like smell touch and sound to bring you back into "reality"

if you wanna do research on your own before drawing a conclusion look into chronic anxiety causing dp dr, NOT just regular dp dr which will usually give results about the type caused by Psychosis and schizophrenia. also look into grounding techniques and other peoples descriptions to see if their descriptions relate to yours

Fogginess has been my most prevalent symptom. Currently, I am doing well - without it! 3 mo. ago it was really bad and I couldn't drive or barely even leave home until I called the Neuro and was put on pred. Took me about a month to really get past the weakness afterwards, but my head is now clear! I am driving and living again. I hate having to take a drug to get better, but if that's what it takes to get back to living a normal life, then I will take the drug.

It can arise due to anxiety, calm urself first, try to relax or meditate, take deep breaths,it will get better slowly.
