Don’t understand

Today is not a good day. It’s so frustrating how my “friends” keep pushing me to go to the club when I don’t want to. I panic, I know people are staring at me I hate the way I look now. They get so mad at me, and keep saying YOU NEED to get OUT.... I feel alone and no one understands me. Do you all go out? Do you ever get anxiety going out? Do you push yourself?

I make myself get out for a bit every evening because I work from home and live alone. I need to see a friend in person or get an inexpensive massage or SOMETHING outside of my house and my head. It doesn't have to be a noisy club, but getting out is important when we're dealing with depression and anxiety. Big hug to you.

Thank you! I went out to the clothing store with my kids and husband which turned out overwhelming. Idk if this is part of depression I push people away especially friends ....

I did the same thing in a way, by saying no to so many invitations because of my fear of having anxiety. Big stores set off most people with anxiety, by the way. I'm going to recommend that you find either books or audiobooks by Dr. Claire Weekes - they will help you with this. You will learn that pushing through discomfort and staying in the situation until it passes is how we rewire our brains to be less anxious. Remember - these feelings are ALWAYS temporary. Always.

Perhaps you can find something to do with your friends rather than going to a noisy nightclub. Maybe get together for tea at a quiet tea house or go to an art show. Something more relaxing and calming where you can actually interact with your friends and have quality time with them. Even just inviting one of them for lunch or to watch a movie with you at your house when you send the kids to their friends house and your hubby out for a guys night out. I have found for myself over the years, that doing things with one or two friends in a quieter setting is better for me than doing stuff in a group in a loud environment. I come home energized rather than drained.

Thank you! I can try that. It’s just overwhelming to me when I’m asked to do things. I’m working on my weight and looks( which I hate so much) so sometimes I just don’t want to go out at all

I definitely understand that you wouldn't want to go to a noisy club. I try and get out to do something one-on-one with a good friend or hang out in a small group in a quiet, low-stress environment. Going for a walk helps too. I push most people away when I'm depressed, but I try and see my closest friends because it really does help.

See I haven’t even been wanting to go one on one with anyone. It makes me nervous.. or I know people will stare at me or something... I hate this so much.. like I don’t get what’s wrong with me sometimes I feel I can’t bring myself to do something
