Trusting yourself

My morning started off great, I was at an International Women’s Day event and I left feeling really positive. Fast forward a few hours later at work and I feel like I’m no good at my job and I can’t do it anymore.

This is a common occurrence. One day I feel so confident in my ability and what I’ve achieved as head of a department, the next I’m thinking I’m not cut out for my job and I am really bad at it and I don’t enjoy it.

How do I know what’s right and wrong. How do you work out if it’s the anxiety making you dislike your job and doubting yourself or if it’s genuinely the job itself? How can you make any decisions about how to improve your life and tackle the anxiety when you feel so conflicted and can’t think straight?

hi anxious hb,it seems that one thing sparks off the other ,meaning that like me my morning started off great, soaking up different things instead of dwelling on things and even in bed (This morning )I felt more like my old self getting interested and feeling in control-this afternoon ,it changed somewhat, could hardly make the bed felt awful ---it could have been my sister who was responsible as I took a tension headache and all those horrible feelings linked to anxiety,as she tends to become sarky and start criticising ----anyway ,my feeling is that if you really don't like the job ,it could spark off anxiety, when the little voice starts to undermine your ability and then you probably start to doubt whether you could find another job..Its best to try and focus on the job otherwise anxiety can override your ability as it did with me--hoping you catch my drift and that like me anxiety has left ---for the time being-always so glad when it does.
