I'm new here, but was hoping to get some advise! So recently I've been feeling very stressed about things and it turned into health anxiety a couple of weeks ago. I started to get a tingling feeling in my hands and feet and convinced myself I was diabetic. I'm 24, overweight but I exercise a lot. Anyway, googling stuff does not help. To find out one way or the other, I bought a blood glucose testing device and about 4 hours after eating it was 4.3mmol so I tried to relax a bit. That was last week and I tested again today and it was 4.9 about 1.5 - 2 hours after eating breakfast (scrambled eggs).
I'm pretty sure I'm not diabetic now, but I keep feeling some compulsion to check just in case. Anyone experienced this before? I just feel really 'off' lately, and I hate going the doctors. I think it's because I'm stressed. I'm so moody and find it hard to relax. Any advice on the blood glucose or anxiety is more than welcome!!
Thanks

Hi there, I was the same as you. Thought my blood glucose went up. I checked regularly and what happened was that the more I checked the more I got hyped up. My blood glucose went up to 8.9 and I rang my GP. Fact is when we re stressed out the level can go up without us being diabetic. Same as fir blood pressure. I have all sorts of devices at home, even a Kardia to do ECG readings but I m off all that. Go to your GP and tell them your Co cerns. They ll check your bloods and usually do a test that shows the blood glucose for the last 3 months. When mine came back as normal I stopped checking. It is the anxiety that makes us do this and anxiety makes our adrenaline go up which then raises blood pressure, heart rate, blood glucose and more. So try to relax and contact your GP. I know how you re feeling, we re all in the same boat. But try to get tests done so that you have peace of mind. Good luck
Welcome! IMO I would go to the doctor ASAP to ease your health fears. Once you clear all that up you can work on your mental health. You don’t want your stress to turn into a compulsion, especially if it is untrue! I went to the cardiologist and had a stress test, neurologist and had testing there, and ran a ton of tests with my Doctor make sure I wasn’t dying. Guess what, perfectly healthy thank goodness. I was then able to ascertain that my issues were strictly mental and affecting my body.
