Wondering if anyone else has experienced this as it's making me more anxious worrying about if 8t could be anxiety of something else
For the last 4 years or so I get on off breathless. I wake at night sometimes breathless. Sitting up helps or more pillows.
Saw the doctor 18 months ago...normal bloods chest xray and sprimoetry test. They could not find anything wrong. Last year i was symptomless..no breathless ness...about a 2ltwo years before that I had 18 months of on off breathless that could last days or weeks then just go and I would be fine.
I excercise regularly usually cycling up and down hills and if anything have got faster in last few years and fitter. No cought or other symptoms but I don't sleep well and often feel anxious.
I have been very stressed recently...could this be anxiety?

Hi jencox...hppe you don't mind a few questions?...
do you often wake breathless at night?
Does your breathlessness have other symptoms?
Does it come on for months at a time then vanish for months?
I can cycle 10 miles up and down hills off road fine..then get breathless sitting on the sofa!? Last week has been nearly every night waking between 2 and 5am breathless then get up and feel fine. Got up yesterday breathless at 6 so went to local pool and swam lengths for 40 mins and felt fine...how can I do that but not sleep without waking breathless!
Seeing an ear nose and throat specialist and being sent for allergy tests next in mid April!
Yes I get the same problem as well. I get breathlessness particularly in the mornings. I too have built up my fitness and do a short run or long fast walk most days and although I feel worse while I am doing it I find it helps alot in that I will feel much better afterwards.
I developed GAD around 20 months ago and was really anxious with many physical symptoms. Strangely I was not breathless much during my worse 4 months. Now it is my only remaining symptom and I am fully recovered apart from this. My GP said it is anxiety and the fact that I feel good immediately afterwards indicates this. I think the key is to ignore the breathlessness and just do whatever you are going to do. I get attacks of palpitations also which makes mine alot worse.
It sounds as if you are doing well to keep building up your fitness. That will help in the long run.
