So I’ll be meeting my doctor for possible medication but I’m worried that my body will be dependent on the medication. I would like to know if anyone has alternative medicine that I could discuss with my doctor for anxiety. Thanks fam! ❤️

I am trying a drug free approach these days. Eating foods with calming effects like turkey etc. Plus, I am trying to keep life calm, very little as possible drama and if can't be avoided, trying to use non drug coping methods. You sent me some great natural healthy coping methods, big thank you's:)

Your welcome friend and thanks for your techniques. I wonder if marijuana would a natural alternative I just know the type of strain that I occasionally try gives more anxiety lmao 😂 so I need to educate myself

Medicinal Marijuana is a good natural healthy option. My state is very regulated still and is very costly when it is all said and done, I can't, won't bother with it for now. It should be legal soon enough :) When I visit legal states, I definitely indulge. I only take a small amount, edibles are very simple to manage my dosage. Lots of strains out there. Sellers know there product and definitely will guide you to the one's you are seeking :)

I would remain open minded and listen to your doctor. Medications like ssri and ssni antidepressants can make a big difference with anxiety. There are many strategies you can employ to combat anxiety, but imo medication as an adjunct to non medical strategies is a good combination. If anxiety is severe I would strongly consider medication. Anxiety is an illness like any other. People take meds for other illnesses without hesitation if it alleviates symptoms and brings relief, so I don't see it being any different with anxiety. If your doctor recommends a benzodiazepine medication I would recommend trying an antidepressant that has anti anxiety characteristics first. Benzo meds are extremely effective for anxiety, but once you take them for a length of time there is no coming off of them for some people so use caution. Be well.

Hi most of the drugs they use these days aren't addictive in the same way others were many years ago. This is one reason why doctors prefer to prescribe the newer ones these days.

Ok you can't just stop them suddenly as you will probably suffer nasty withdrawal symptoms but a slow tailored off approach works quite well. If you don't want to take meds that is your choice of course but the only other option the doctor can offer you is counselling. It would be a good idea to combine the two though.

If you don't want to take the medical route then google self help. There are other tools such as mindfulness which might be able to help as well. Good luck. x

After waking up almost everyday, for almost 4years, with the feeling of terror in my stomach and mind, I decided to give acupuncture a try, this was 6 weeks ago, my life is now changing!!

4 weeks ago I booked a flight to Spain, just got back after the 8 day trip this in mind I would have struggled leaving the house 7 weeks ago. I have also been able to reduce my medication.

I don't know how it's works but it is for me, finally feeling that my life is coming back 😀

Hi Lvee,

I dealt with my anxiety using alternative medicine.

I saw a homeopath, who was also a naturopath. We used homeopathy, minerals and herbs.

Meditation also helped as well as some counselling.

It wasn't easy, it was severe anxiety with panic attacks and I chose the alternative approach because I feared the side effects of pharmaceutical medication.

It's not for everyone..but it can be done. Also, marijuana was NOT part of my treatment.

Hope this doesn't make your decision any harder.
