Continued tremors

After three weeks on the higher dose of Zoloft (125) I’m still experiencing hand tremors. I’m hoping that they’ll go away? Have they for anyone else after continued use?

Mongea, since we all react differently to medications, please let your doctor

know what's going on and if you should continue the medication or will it

go away after a while. xx

125. Did you notice the tremors get worse as you went up on the Zoloft?

I know its easier said than done but relax..let the medication have time to work..I know you want speedy results but your anxiety will only get worse...when you relax the medication will work...I just take my meds now without thinking I know they work..it really makes a big difference if you are positive...good luck.

Hi Mongea,

I'm not sure if you had tremors before, but it is possible to develop tremors while using SSRI/SNRI medications. As a few have mentioned, whether you have taken a lower dose and not gotten this side effect, this would be a good discussion to have with your doctor.

125 mg is a fairly moderate/high dose (200 mg being the maximum), so you may need to switch medications unless it is working for you at a lower dose without the tremors.

As for side effects, some do go away with continuous use of the medication. Some do not. Again, speaking with your doctor will be the best option here as they can weigh dosages/side effects/and other medications with risks/benefits of using each. You may find you do just as well on another medication that doesn't cause tremors.

Personal opinion only....I would think by three weeks any side effect that was going to eventually go away would have already. From my experiences, in 1-2 weeks, most of my side effects on SSRI/SNRIs were gone. The others just maintained course and kept with me. Once I stopped, the side effects went out the door.

Hope this helps and hope your doctor can guide you in the right direction. Best of luck!!

Tell your doctor right away. He may be able to give you another medication to help with those side effects.

I really hate to switch medications at this point after investing so much time getting up on the Zoloft. Plus, it’s working well for me- maybe I just have to accept this side effect and learn how to cope with it?

I had these in my legs.
